I've just finished watching Prison Break. For anyone who's watched the whole lot, there are 2 extra episodes at the end of season 4 that weren't broadcast in America, they were released on DVD. They're not listed on IMDB but are listed on Wikipedia as Season 4 Episodes 23 & 24. I don't know if they were broadcast here or not, but if you've not watched them yet look out for "The Final Break" on DVD. Edit: Just had a quick look on Amazon and The Final Break only seems to be available as a US import. I don't know if that means it's just not been released here yet or if it means these extra 2 episodes are included with the Season 4 DVD over here. Final Break was shown on sky1. The other half and I watched the first one yesterday. Just one last episode to watch of PB before it's gone. A pity. At the end of the PB series proper my missus balled her eyes out!! I've not seen her cry like that since the end of Spartacus! I've given up with her!!

The BBC have axed Robin Hood 'because of the recession'. How does the recession hurt the Beeb? The Beeb are cutting drama production for cheaper talent/reality shows.
A disgrace.

Because of the recession? Where did you get that from? All the reports I've seen blame really bad viewing figures. Not that I'm in favour of the talent/reality rubbish - that's a different matter. Though I guess they do get the viewing figures

Dr Who would stand no chance v Talent. according to the Guardian.

Guardian Unlimited - "BBC kills off Robin Hood as viewing figures fall" Brand Republic - "BBC axes Robin Hood as viewers abandon show" Mirror.co.uk - "Robin Hood axed after viewers fall"
From the Guardian: Audiences dropped off, however, averaging 5.5 million in the first series, while the third and final series averaged around 4.6 million, not large enough to justify the cost of producing the expensive show. Less than half that number watched the series climax on Saturday

Less than half that number watched the series climax on Saturday The climax got a low rating because it was moved to BBC2 due to Andy Murray. Most would not have known it was even on. 5m viewers may not seem much but it's worth noting Eastenders and Corro are getting 7-8m viewers and they normally have little competition. RH has been axed because the Beeb are cutting back on drama. If the channel is not going to make the 'difficult' shows then what is the point of the license fee?

Just finished watching the whole of The Wire. It really is very good, the best TV drama I've seen I reckon. I thought they started to go off the rails a bit in season 5, but it was still very good.
I tried to chose a favourite character the other day and ended up with a shortlist about 15 long!
Before starting on The Wire I'd heard from various sources that the language and jargon made it hard to follow. I didn't find that at all. There were plenty of words and phrases that I'd never heard used in that way before but I didn't find any of it hard to understand when it was in context.

I stopped watching that after 6 or 7 episodes of S1. I couldn't maintain interest, but I did have a loads to watch at the time. Maybe I should give it another go as I do remember it being good in places.
I got so many damn films to watch though it's gonna be hard taking in another TV series.

It's been on my list for a while but I didn't want to start watching it until I had hold of a copy of it all - which took a while.

I'm not rushing them since there's no need to. I'm told S3 is the best with S4 close behind. I thought S2 was better than S1 because it had two very different storylines. BTW - the idea of an Amsterdam is about right. The 'war' can't be won using these tactics.

'Hamsterdam'.
season 1 is the high risers, season 2 is the docks, season 3 is what? i cant remember (after a while, all the season kind of blend into one)
season 2 was good because it had mcnulty's 'high class hooker/limey' scene in it! if i am honest, the last season is almost perfection, along with 4, but each season has its own outstanding merits and they are part of a truly magnificent story, which each contributes to, and therefore i find it very difficult to rate it.
i think when all is said and done, this is televisions finest moment. it's just a damn shame that we dont have a HBO channel over here.
as you people have watched it the wrong way round to prison break, are you finding it weird that 'Bunny' Colven is the same actor who played Lochero in season 2 (or was it 3) of PB?

Never spotted that he's the same actor as Lechero who ran the prison in Panama (S3).

To be fair, most programmes go off the rails a little by Season 5. The only one i can think of that hasn't is Lost.

Anyone seen The Corner, Generation Kill and/or Homicide: Life on the Street?
How do they compare to The Wire?

generation kill is absolutely awesome. my personal pick of the three above. very good series, very close adaptation from the book, so close in fact you are reading pretty much exactly what the reporter describes.
the corner was difficult for me to watch. its like the wire, set on the same corners but without the cast. very good, but it didnt quite feel right.
i havent watched homicide.

anyone watching TUF season 10? im thinking of starting a new thread for it if there is enough interest so not to hijack this thread.
the first fight was brutal and the rivalry between rashard and rampage looks to be epic. looking forward to next weeks episode sooo much. the way rampage got wet over kimbo was so embarrassing and it actually made me cringe, but rampages fighter was certainly mismatched. awesome. fight.

Is this UFC type stuff or WWF type stuff? If the former just start a thread on the miscellaneous sports board.

Defying Gravity is superb. Californication is back and is on a roll. Heroes is back and seems to be as boring and badly-written as ever.

Generation Kill starts on CH4 tomorrow night (Wed). Well worth a watch (or record it if you're not into staying up that late).
