Finally saw HellBoy 2 today, & here are my thoughts:
This film was ok, but certainly isn't a patch as the 1st film. It has a big build up, sags a bit in the middle...& the big battle with the Golden Army, never really happens & is over in a couple of minutes. I was waiting & hoping for a bloody big battle, & it never really was. It felt as though the crux of the story was done in minutes. This, coupled with the afore mentioned sag/drag in the middle section, let this film down. It's not bad, but it could have been SO much better. Hellboy 3? Meet the family? I think I can sort of see where this franchise is going next. I just hope it's not going to end up like so many do...a good idea taken past it's best before date.

Saw RocknRolla at Cineworld tonight, and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a Guy Ritchie film. It follows closely along the tried and tested Lock Stock theme, with some very good performances by a host of British talent. Jeremy Priven is like Russell Brand on acid, and Mark Strong continues his rapid rise to stardom. A bit of eye candy for the lads as well with Thandie Newton being quite foxy and a little cameo by Gemma Arterton.
Well worth watching.

Never really bothered with it. The problem with a lot of series on tv is the time that you need to watch them. Heroes and Lost are really the only two that I follow religously, and then mostly films.

I am bored of Guy Richie films now, he's only seemingly able to make one type of film.

oz was great, they had it all on youtube for a while, I think I watched 7 odd episodes and then it got taken down. I heard from a friend who heard from...ect. that the guy that got tattooed on his arss became one of the top dogs in the prison, true?

Tobias Beecher (the guy who had a swastika branded on his behind) didnt end up as a top dog, but he was pushed past his limit and he grew a set and stopped taking any poo poo.
Oz was great, but its aged badly.

if it aint broke, don fix it... it's not broke, just tired & worn! true, i suppose, but i like the laaandan gangster movies, lock stock, layer cake and snatch were all amazing (yes yes, i know layer cake wasnt a guy richie film, but it falls into that category and its director produced one of the other two films mentioned), so on that basis alone, i'd definitely give it a go.

look deeper than the shows that get marketed massively. while they are good, there are always a fair few hidden gems... have to say they are marketed massively because they are a quality product, some just rebel against anything popular with the masses i find! A bit like some like to watch plays and musicals on broadway and some think it is far more trendy and hip to watch shows in the off broadway scenario no matter how bad they are just to say in conversation did you see! For the record though the shield was ok up to about series 4 i think then it became very tired and predictable. the wire watched one episode and probably my fault but thought it was confusing and trying to do too much to be believable! Heroes is still good, 24 is still good, Lost is still good because they maintain the quality and thereby are mainstream products! Though if you want a quality programme i would suggest if it is still on iplayer watch 'the zinc bed' quality writing and three world class actors!

i liked lost up until the half way through the 3rd season. i heard it went back to being great after that, but i gave up on it. so i too like some things that are popular with the masses. im currently watching 24 which is highly enjoyable (even though a tad predictable), but after watching the wire, it's hard to watch anything without picking apart its realism.
im looking forward to season 7 of the shield oldy, been watching season 6 to refresh my memory. arent you going to be watching it? you know to see how things end up?
seriuously, you cant judge an entire show on one episode. go back and watch the first 6 or 7 episodes of the wire. if it's not for you, then fair enough, but dont dismiss a show that is 6 seasons long on the basis of one episode (an introductory episode establishing all of the characters at that).
all im saying is, while i do enjoy the shows that everyone likes, shows like the wire and generation kill still beat them hands down, so please dont lump me into the category of those who think its cool to hate shows because they are popular. i just happen to think my suggestions are better.

No other programme has the depth, the mystery and the mythology of Lost, nothing else comes close to the detail the writers put into it and i can't see any programme in history even coming close. Television isn't like football or music, if something is good, it's picked up on generally. 24, Lost, Heroes, The Wire, Dexter etc... is where it is for a reason.

'my thoughts on lost are tainted as i havent seen it all the way through' that is what i am basing my opinion on, please bear that in mind
