Bloomin eck, anybody could win a face off against us last season. It seemed whoever got to the face off first would take it, even if there were better equipped players on the ice. Taking face offs this season against Panthers is going to be a whole different kettle of fish. i was about to say , wallenberg has never been a centre all his career, we had the whole bunch taking them , mostly losing the draw. Im also hopful corey will have special teams this year and not just roll his usual lines

Bergin will be used for key draws, Neilson has already said that. Richo 1 and Richo 2 are both genuine centres, they will be good in the circle it goes without saying.
Basiuk is a great signing, one of the best all round D men in the league. I dont think it covers up for Sheffield losing Tessier or the fact they are probably the softest team in the league but hes a very good signing.

Corey is very proffessional, I would expect to see a well balanced attack and defence, with all the players signed early, they probably know what level of fitness he expects of them when they arrive, if he has learnt anything about coaching from his many teams, good times ahead, me thinks.

My take on Basiuk.
Good player but not the world beater some seem to think he is.
As we all know to our cost team balance and integration count far more than individual statistics. No one has any real idea how the teams are going to pan out until they've all played a meaningful number of games.
It seems to me that paper figures mean plenty when opposing fans are trying to talk down the Panthers team but very little if those same figures tell a positive story. However, many Panthers fans are just as guilty of that same attitude.

Quite true Mark, but whilst steelers posters decry our defence their's IMO look worse than ours on known form guides. With the lack of any out and out centres and any real heavyweight it could turn out a long season for their defence. Another point is Ashley Tait, once you've been hit like he was you have a habit of looking over your shoulder, once you start that, your finished, if thats the case, yhet would be in further trouble, only time will tell.

Lets look at them
Munn - Tough, Solid stay at home d man , would be a asset to any elite team.
Basuik - Good on the point , but like tambo has said , does wonder a lot and get caught out of possession, mangos having to bail him out.
Sarich - Good skater and puck carrier, now the bad news, way too many turnovers , and sometimes in dangerous areas , would make any fellow d man nervous .
Degenais - As above, nothing special, came as the high point scoring d man, doesn t shoot on the point much, not that tough too.

The charity shield will be a good indication on how Sheffield will fare, IMO.
They lack centers and will be up against a Blaze team that has, certainly based on the past couple of years, the best 1,2 centre punch in the league and has just signed a former 1 st round center as well.
They will also be in quite a tight rink against a team that could possible ice 5 guys all over 6' and weighing in excess of 1100lbs
I must admit I don't rate the Steelers line-up as high as that of the Panthers.

Just to point out to everyone who thinks the Steelers lack centres, we have 4. This isn't to start an argument, or to bicker about quality, just sating a fact.
Finnerty, Legue (who, despite what some think, IS and always has been a centre), Dowd and Hewitt (who can play both quite well.).

Dowd, first full season, he must be good. Hewitt, top quality, if you say so. Finnerty, cant remember him as a face off man, Tessier spent too much time on the ice for him to take many. Legue, converted winger, or still a winger, good player when fit. Face off winner maybe win some, but then again so might Stevie Wonder. Do think you could come a cropper.

I did not see all your games, however, when Tess played he was on the ice so long, don't think many other players got a look in.

well he didnt win us the play offs thats for sure , the finnerty/hewitt/phillips line did {aswell as jody }, they ran riot. And i beg to differ he was always on the ice , we roled 3 lines constantly ofetn starting with the above line on pp;s sometimes
