Ronaldo will move to Real. It's his dream to play for them. He's said so. Even his mum says so. It'll happen and Man U won't be able to stop him. Just like Figo, Beckham, Ronaldo, Zizou and Ruud. Real are like the Mounties. You're right Ronaldo is better in the air. He actually only has 3 assists this season as he is actually not playing as a midfielder. Man U have adopted the strikerless formation that Roma pioneered with Totti. It's a devastating system if the right players are playing. That's why Ronaldo is scoring more and creating less. Messi is the closest thing we've seen the great one retired. That's why he's dubbed Messidona. It's frightening how good ARG could be with the talent they have coming thru. Of course they a maanger can eff it up for them like in 2006. Ive also heard him say that it was his dream to play for "a big club like Manchester United" i suspect he probably said similar about Real at some point, doesnt mean he's going to go there. Although, saying that, i do think that he will move on if Man U dont win the Champs league soon. I dont know where you got that stat from but its clearly untrue, he got 3 assists in one game last Saturday against Villa and he's definately scored some more than just in that match! Guess who i voted for? ;D

I'm amazed all of you guys have so little opinion of Messi. As somebody who watches every Real and Barca game I find it amazing he's getting so little love. You guys must watch different games every week. Ronaldo has 3 assists. Fabregas leads the EPL with 13 assists incidentally. Ronaldo is a great player. I just think Messi is better than him. That might be the minority opinion in England but then people in Spain would overwhelmingly support Messi over CR. And Italians would back Kaka. The fact is that 3 months ago FIFA's exoerts picked Kaka, then Messi and then Ronaldo.

I just think Ronaldo is better at the moment. I think those stats must yet to be updated from last weekend as the fantasy league on the premier league site has him down as 6 assists, which adds up. It really is down to personal opinion at the end of the day but i think it would be very harsh on that boy Ronaldo if he doesnt win World player of the year this season, im not sure exactly what else he's expected to do

If your going on stats Sunbeam..
Messi GP 22 | G 9 | A 8
Ronaldo GP 28 | G 26 | A 3
So you say Messi is more of an assist man than a scorer like Ronaldo, so surely Messi should have as many assists as Ronaldo has goals using your terminology?
I love Messi more than Ronaldo but i hate to admit it at this very moment, well in the last year.. Ronaldo is the better player! I don't know how anybody can question it really..

The Player of the Year award is for the calendar year so there's 8 months to go yet. However if Man U win the UCL I'd expect him to win the award. That's probably why Henry never won the award. He had seasons where he scored a similar amount of goals and also led the league in assists but of course ASL never won the UCL. And FRA didn't win it all either. Bottom line, very long way to go til December's voting! ;D

how many goals for messi last weekend sunbeam? Not sure if he is going to make tomorrow's game. Might have come too soon and Barca can't risk him tweaking his injury. I fear they may lose without him though. Without him they are rather ordinary. Especially without Ronny too. Just need to scrape thru tomorrow and hope Messi is fit to beat the Mancs.

I though the EPL was supposed to be the best, most exciting league in the Universe. Or is that all just hype? Don't forget Messi has been injured for weeks BTW. FWIW I believe La Liga is a far more even league. It has more depth whereas the EPL is dominated by the same old 4 teams. ********************** Slight change of subject but I had to answer a Gooner who called Adebayor rubbish who only scores goals because he takes a billion shots. Adebayor in the EPL and UCL: 31 games started, 19 goals, 3 assists, 84 shots, 47 shots on target. 7 games started, 3 goals, 11 assists, 22 shots, 9 on target. Torres: 30 games started, 21 goals, 3 assists, 82 shots, 51 on target. 7 starts, 5 goals, 3 assists, 20 shots, 9 on target. C Ronaldo: 27 starts, 27 goals, 6 assists, 164 shots, 96 on target. 8 starts, 7 goals, 2 assists, 45 shots, 15 on target. I'm not sure if Adebayor takes all of Arsenal's pens. Gerrard takes LIV's.

Where are your stats from? In all fairness if you a trying to prove that CR has only scored so much because him having more shots that doesn't matter. He has still got the higher goal tally overall for the season, has had to carry man utd at times especially when rooney and tevez have been off form. Imo what league he plays in doesn't matter, he can only play whats in front of him and he has torn the opposition to pieces.

Your saying Ronaldo is the best player on the planet. One question for me is how can he be the best player on the planet, cus you can't compare John Terry, Ronaldo, Buffon together as they different roles

You could take buffon and terry out of their teams and they'd cope quite similarly however if you took CR from utd they'd be completely different. Imo CR is the best on the planet by a country mile atm.

A players injury problems are a detriment to his value and status. For example, you'd always take Henry over Owen. I prefer La Liga, so there's no debate here in terms of entertainment. The Premier League has again proved it has the best sides though, even if it's not exactly balanced.

Shocking penalty, the thing that made me laugh about last night was that everytime Messi did a nice piece of skill Ronaldo did some too as if trying to prove who has more skills lol it was like a school football match

Ronaldo was actually pretty impressive last night. Seems people think he plays crap if he doesn't score. He did a totally different job than usual.

Didn't catch the game but I did hear Man U fans saying that on the radio this morning. Some Man U fans are now of the opinion that Ronaldo doesn't do it in the big games. Like they said about Henry. I don't quite buy that. The big games are v big opponents so he's bound to not look as good. Hard to believe that Barca can be so impotent with such a line up. Their new boss needs to get a grip. They need their version of Capello.
