Has he put millions of his own money into Notts? Did he have millions to put in? I'm a blind Bambi when it comes to Notts/Trew now as I didn't think he had that sort of cash. He wants to have Notts debt free by the turn of the year. The money will then be owed purely to him, which no matter how you look at it has to be a good step. So yes, if what he says is true (I think we would have heard if it wasnt), hes put millions of his own money in. If the worse happened and he took his money out, the club would be plunged into admin, and he would only get 10% of it back at the most, so I cant see him doing that. Also, having many different creditors hassling the club gives the place a bad name and people wont do business with Notts which limits the possiblities, both in terms of income and suppliers. It turns out hes got a lot more money than most people thought! Hes never quantified how much he is worth, as he doesnt seem that kind of person, but lots of people have purely guessed and the figures have come from that. A good win for Notts. Despite being the worst Iv seen in years Saturday, we then beat the team who beat the best team in the League Saturday. Lets hope we can now push on.

Agents made £250k from Notts last season. And when you consider that agents fees for the whole of League Two combined was nearly £380,000, it shows just how ridiculous the previous administration was! The Trew family have my total faith but I can see things like this and the lawyers claim haunting us for some time to come.

Lawyers' claim?

Munto's lawyers are suing Notts for quite a substantial sum of money for their work between November and February. Notts have already agreed to pay a certain amount to them but they're claiming quite a considerable amount more (don't have exact numbers to hand) in court. Notts are disputing it and they've even roped in Trembling to help in their defence. Sadly I don't think we'll see the last of this kind of thing for some time.

I slightly disagree Kim, Ray Trew has said there is an end in sight to all these horrible issues. Once he gets the solicitors off the case, there is a disput with Nike to sort and then thats almost it. I found it even more astonishing though that theyve brought in Peter Trembling to help!! Of all people, at all times, hes been brought back in.
On the pitch, It still seems a shadow of last seasons team (despite being much, much stronger) as Craig Short tries to have his influence. 2 wins in 4 days though is very welcome and the chance to build.
In other stories, its a very strong rumour Derby have offered £400k for Ben Davies. Id be gutted if it was accepted, but would understand. IIRC from memory that would be the biggest income since the early 90s when we were selling players to pay for our new ground!!

Could we not pick up that Pele that has just been released by MK Dons? surely there would be no need to adhere to the deadline day ruling if he is a free agent?

Wow we finally start to make progress and didnt look like going down under Short and the board does this.
Personally, I don't think this sacking has anything to do with the on the pitch stuff - my gut says somethings gone off behind the scenes

Mental. Must be more to it. The club have made a big jump to League 1, 16th place at this stage is no disgrace at all.

Short was a cheapo option. He was doing okay. There's no sense in this.
Hart is the fave for the job with Ince the other strong contender. Hart would be good.

Nothing to add really apart from, part of me is very happy with the chairman, Il explain.
Every year for pretty much as long as I can remember (the last time I really had pride in Notts doing well, Sam Allardyce slid his resignation under the chairmans door and tried to make out he was retiring) Iv always thought, things arent going well, we need a new manager or fresh blood, I want to see change. For the first time ever, Iv barely even dared to think that, and the chairman has got rid.
Ruthless ambition and a drive to see his money and time spent better, or disloyalty and narrow minded? Well, lets be honest its probably both, but Trew is nothing if not headstrong and ambitious. Hes given the club a top 7 budget (from the horses mouth) and yet we sit 16th. When you put it like that, its not so surprising, but on the other hand we havnt been truly outplayed since the 2nd week of the season (Oldham and Huddersfield spanked us, but since then weve been in every game and have been extremely unlucky)and have beaten Watford in the cup, and came 9 Mins away from beating Wolves and getting a tie at old trafford.
I suspect we will know more when the new person is appointed, until then I think Im with 99% of the fanbase who are completely surprised and dont really know what to think.

Was Short really on a 3 year contract?
Mega payout if he was, and less in the pot to bring in new players and a management team

Good job then if thats the case. Still a bit harsh I think though.

I still cant get my head round it tbh. One thing is for sure though, it wasnt the easy or cheap option. Id rather upset a few people and ruffle feathers than accept 16th as acceptable, but it still hasnt sunk in. Especially Kevan going too, from a fans POV (and the players) hes been the rock at the club throughout all its been through.

It was hardly accepting 16th. Win your home game on Sat and you could be just outside the PO's. It was a silly decision to appoint Short (better candidates) and a sillier decision to sack him so soon.
The best thing Notts could do would be to appoint Hart as GM/DoF and let him run the football operation. Hart can appoint a Head Coach and then Hart can set about building Notts' youth structure and build a plan for the next 5 years.
Let Hart decide the football matters (besides the 1st team of course which would be the preserve of the HC) rather than Trew making the calls.
I don't expect Trew to do that. I will not be surprised if he appoints Ince and then ends up sacking him next year.

I think Hart's too proud to return to a sole youth coach role. It's what he's best at, but i'd not have him in charge of anything else. He's a coach, no more no less.

Hmmm. I think Ince is probably a good choice for where Notts are now. Blackburn was the wrong move for him but Notts could prove to be a very good move for him personally and for the club. My only reservation over a guy like Ince is I think he's one of those guys who has a limited shelf life at any club. He's a bit like Joe Kinnear in that he has the ability to motivate in the short term but over time the teacups and hairdryer approach wears a bit thin on a squad. I think he can stabilise Notts and probably mount a decent challenge for promotion over a 3 or 4 year period. If he is given that long. The thing with League 1 is it's very topsy turvy. A squad of players can finish 16th one year then a slight change in approach can see that same squad challenging for the title. There is very little between a lot of the sides I feel.

Notts cant wait 3-4 years for promotion. Thats why Short has gone already.
