I went today, im too tired to post about it but much fun was had and much wetness was attained. Snap. I got soaked coming home. Nice to see the TBI increase the cost of a pint to £3 for the duration of the Test! A decent day. I was relieved to get 60 overs of cricket. The highlight had to be Bret Lee bowling Tresco off a no-ball! I also saw Gary Moran in there. We had a very interesting chat about all-things Panthers. Particularly about JC, Adey, the new season, new signings and Blazer's plan. As always he was very polite, frank and open.

I was there today too What a day, just a brilliant perfect day all round. 470 runs followed by 5 cheap wickets down for the Aussies. We ought to make them follow on tomorrow and could have a situation where Sunday ticks are refunded! Haha, likely story though. Watch Gilchrist hit 200.

What a day at Trent Bridge! Flintoff's batting was majestic as was Jones's (pity he can't keep wicket though!). The more madder Brett Lee got the happier I was ;D The bowling performance was outstanding. I saw 3 times as many LBW appeals from our bowlers in the last session than I did from the Aussie bowlers in the entire England innings. I've enjoyed two fabulous days at the test match (Including sitting behind the lovely Claire Tomlinson on Thursday) I only hope it lasts until Monday so I can go again!

Well we've enforced the follow-on. I seem to be in a minority of one in thinking that that is a bad call. The Aussies should set England 200ish to win and I don't fancy us chasuing that down. The ball has started to go thru the top and Warne will be very dangerous.
I'd have batted, declared after lunch tomorrow and set them 550 to win off 160 overs. Rain isn't forecast. Enforcing the follow-on is old hat now. The Aussies don't believe in it anymore since they did it to India and went on to lose the match and the series. Just like at Headingley in 1981.
I've got tickets for tomorrow and I might be biting my nails!

I told him he should post them on the Cage and put people straight but of course he won't. Some members of this forum should email him before jumping to conclusions.

A nervous day ahead at TB tomorrow. I may see us go 2-1 up. But I could see them retain the Ashes. I still don't think we should have enforced the follow-on.
I'll settle for chasing anything less than 200. 250 max. Anymore than that and we're in deep doodoo.

I've just got back from TB. I'll be framing my ticket stubs if we regain the Ashes!
A totally nerve-shredding day. We nearly screwed it up yet again! If they'd set 150+ I think we'd have lost. Jones' glovework was unacceptable again I'm afraid. It's a shame coz he seems like a nice guy.
Thank the gods we fell over the line. Today is the best day of sport I've ever been to. And nearly the worst! ;D

I sat at Wollaton Park today in front of the big screen. Was such a joy to see so many people (including myself) get into cricket. The ashes have been branded all over TV for the past month or so, and it has brought so much interest into the game. I just hope in future years, a similar thing will happen with ice hockey. The morning was quite boring with not a lot of wickets falling but eventually the game started picking up some pace after lunch and then we were placed in bat. Once we finally won the game, it was such an awsome sight to see so many people celebrate. Now bring on the match at the Oval

What a day! I was sat with the barmy army and when the final runs were notched we all went nuts, it was like nothing i've ever experienced before. Everybody knew what was at stake and from Vaughan to Ponting to the casual fan, we all shared every drop of tension, dread and relief (obviously not Ricky 'sore loser' Ponting). This has been the greatest test series ever and we still have one to go, nothing will wipe this smile off of my face.
Ok, i have to be a little negative. Everyone knows my opinion on Jones so i'll keep schtum mainly. What i will say has nothing to do with his glovework though, him and Bell deserve dropping for the shots they got out to in the chase. Bell's was a pointless attempted hook and Jones' was disgraceful, charging down the wicket to warne when only tailenders are to follow? I was fuming.

I don't think Bell is a test match batsman really and that shot of Jones' was shocking given the situation. Thank goodness for "old" heads when Giles and Hoggard came in. Ash was clearly feeling the strain but Hoggy seemed the be the most relaxed person in the ground - he actually gave the impression he was enjoying it! ;D

Just like Warne and Lee did with the bat earlier. Ponting said afterwards that England made the right call in going for their shots. Warne was bowling beautifully and I think we decided we weren't going to do it in singles. So they attacked the quicks. KP and Freddy did too. We won't change the team unless Simon Jones is injured. If he is we may go for another batsman and play Collingwood. Five days of rain would do! ;D

The only second innings wicket of Englands to fall was Flintoff's,Lee beat him for sheer pace. The remaining batsmen may all want to review their shots on the video afterwards.Perhaps Warney should take some credit, but Vaughan,Strauss etc really have enough nous and experience to have made the job easier.
5 Days of rain??It takes what it takes!
Failing that though,England need to be ultra-professional and see the job out propoerly. The Oval is traditionally a batsmans haven and if England get first use of it then a score of 500 should be a realistic target IMO.

Thanks for that beamer, a good read. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Marc Hussey to be honest, he's been dynamite for Notts this season, not sure how old he is though.

Probably because Mike Hussey is old and plays for Durham. On the other hand his brother David has been dynamite for Notts and is in the list in the post above. Crikey Newham...get with the programme!

You mean David Hussey (28) mate. Michael (30) is his older brother and I agree with the Aussies that they should ask Michael to replace Hayden. Mike Hussey was the Aussies best batsman in the 1 day series and has done well skippering Durham this Summer. This is the Aussies team I'd hate to face at the Oval: Mike Hussey Langer Ponting Symmonds Clarke Gilchrist Watson Warne Lee MacGill McGrath That team has a more in-form batting line-up and a much better fielding outfit. Watson is could play as a batting all-rounder and Symmonds can be a further option. We don't play spin well so MacGill should pair up with Warne. The team has more seam bowling, more spin, better batting and fielding. Thank the gods it looks like they won't play that team but stick with the existing squad! ;D Dean Jones blasts McGrath! The convicts are revolting.
