Well on www.sufc.co.uk today: Sheffield United's box office staff welcomed another 1,600 season ticket holders to Bramall Lane in one day! A fantastic 1,600 enthusiastic Blades fans signed up as season ticket holders on Monday to guarantee their seat to watch Premiership football next season. They have already sold 15,000 tickets for next season smashing last years 14,000 total! Thats 1,600 extra fans that have come out of the woodwork cause they have got to the Premiership.. Lets see how many renew when they come back down! It all comes down to the quality of product, the premiership is of a higher standard than the championship so there will be a higher demand for tickets. Thats just the way a market works, we can hardly be criticised for that can we?

The dislike of Warnock has nothing to do with Notts. Notts has no effect on Forest fans about anything. There's no local rivallry whatsoever. He's disliked by Forest fans in the same way he is by Derby or Leic fans. I've a good mate who is a Sheff U fan so I'm happy for him that he'll be watching EPL next season. I do however think you'll continue the trend of the last two seasons of a team wearing red and white stripes going down. Where you get your financial figures I do not know. Your board is diversifying and has casino proposals and has a set-up in China. But you don't have lots of cash. Congratulations though. Teams that go up get £20million so as to where they are getting there money from is there!!! Get your facts right!! Just like West Ham last year, £30million if you win the play-offs!! Just because you increase your revenue doesn't mean you are suddenly rich or even have that to spend. Last Summer Sunderland, WHAM and Wigan spent around £10m between them. Promotion means an increase in costs and clubs are not willing to spend a lot on transfers in case they go down. Sheff Utd might spend £10m on new players but that will include wage costs. They won't blow £10m net on transfers as they can't risk it. They'll hold fire until the January window like Birmingham, WHam and WBrom hvae previously done. Sheff U have never been big spenders. The board do not have a history of putting significant money in. They have been tightly run and have avoided the mess Wednesday, Forest, Derbt, Leic etc have got into. Sheff Utd fans have been very critical in the past but Sheff Utd's board have been proven right. Don't forget, they had half the wage bill of Forest last season. You've got to give Warnock his props.

Think you got it all wrong!!! Course they can risk it! What have they got to lose? Spending £10million on players is nothing nowadays! They have a good board at Sheff U and have been waiting for the right time to spend big amounts of money just like Promotion! Players at Wigan and West Ham have achieved well this year including West Ham who are in the FA Cup final with some good quality players and from the youth teams such as Anton Ferdinand. This doesn't mean that wages are going to be high, they now have the money to spend and £10million is what he will have if thats what the board has said. Looking abroad for players like himself and coaching staff are currently doing mean bringing in good quality players at a cheaper wage too!!

I saw Neil at the Alton Towers hotel on Monday, I congratulated him and asked if he was there with the team. He said that the team were in Spain and that he was there with the Wife and trying to get some "credibility"

The points sunbeam has made are both true and entirely valid. If you go out and blow £10mil on new players PLUS big wages, signing on fees etc. you would be making a rod for your own back, the United board know this. If that happened and you went down you'd likely have the problem of players on big wages who you can't shift and the club would be spiralling fast towards the nightmares of Leeds, Forest, Derby, Leicester and the other clubs who have gambled and come up empty. I will be amazed if Shuff U go out and spend a wad of cash, as sunny says the time to do that is in January when you are in a position of doing it with knowledge of where you have a chance of playing the following year.

Knowing Warnock he'll sign strikers becaise he does like signing strikers!!

Asked my Sheff U supporting friend what he makes of their spending this summer and if he was impressed. His reply:
"Not particularly. Most of our signings tend to be players that have not really cut it in the premiership or are considered to possibly have the potential. There's no real quality as far as I'm concerned. This could really prove whether Warnock has the skills to buy players that can cut it in the top division."
My reply:
"4 options when buying players:
Buy imports and hope they settle. Cheap quality. Buy established Prem players. Expensive but proven to work Buy promising kids. Cheap and could pay off Buy established Championship players. Cheap but rarely works.
You've gone for the latter option. What is worse is that you've spent over £4m and I'm not sure any of them are much kop. Watford are no better off and Reading have yet to spend.
I fear for you and Watford. Reading have good young players and still have money to spend. I don't understand Warnock's tactics."
In short, pay peanuts and you get monkeys.

Sheff U have been very impressive during training so far, really enjoying themselves and loking the part! All excited about the Premiership and have a big smile on their faces! Doesn't take costly players to make a team, players who are happy and have a good team spirit within the club make a team and a team to enjoy playing!

Doesn't take costly players to make a team, players who are happy and have a good team spirit within the club make a team and a team to enjoy playing! The danger is they don't have enough good players and all the other teams are going to enjoy playing Sheff U! Team spirit is important though. Forest fans know that from last year!

Well don't think the team he's got at mo will handle it to be honest, should of got some more signings in before the deadline, though Preston kept rejecting their offer, which Sheffield should never have put the price up to the much but Preston still rejected it! Not sure that Nugent would of made much of a difference anyway. it defenders they are lacking at the mo as afew out injured! Hope he spends more wiser in January....though that could cost them!

Speaking of Reading, has anyone seen 'Seol'?
I remember him being dire for Wolves in the Championship but he's been awesome in all 3 games for Reading. He was unstoppable against Boro and created all 3 goals. Second game he was lethal and third he was the best man on the park.
Definately a quality buy there. Reading seem to have goals in them too.
