Cos hes a legend!! Who wants to watch wallenberg when you can be entertained by Corny Panthers don't need Cornish anyway. Neilson and Bergin have shown they can step and drop the gloves if needed. And also we have Huggy bear.

Come on, Askey was RELEASED from Italy for not cutting the grade, he may be qualified but he didnt come here as an on form AHLer. Rasto was on good money. There cant be much difference in wages.
I love Corny but no thanks for now! I hope its a D man still now the "playmaker" signed up the m1

Reckon I'm with you on that Rich, given the current situation. Mike's looked a bit shakey on D the last couple of games and given the doubts regarding Stancok and his injury, a solid Dman would fit the bill. That would mean managing with the offence we currently have albeit possibly boosted by Pelletier being given more licence to attack.

our D is certainly looking very shaky and for me it comes down to two possible roads to go down
1, get a forward in that is that good we know we'll outscore the opposition in 95% of games no matter how many they score
2, get a solid d-man in thats going to shore up the back line enough that we don't need to score 5/6 goals on a regular basis
or i suppose there's another option of not signing anyone at all, this is looking more likely by the day unfortunately
regarding Cornish, he's a guy i like, but a guy i like to watch playing for another team. if that makes sense. would seriously look into signing Sharp for next season though, could certainly beef up our Brit line and surely improve playingwise training at this level

If we sign clarkie I can see his "official" wages to be 2 buttons and a mars bar. What I want to know is what is happening with the PC money. Now by early morning mathematics's somewhere between £1.89 and £3.6million we have to spend. Surely we can tempt someone of some level of class to come and play. You mean like using it on the most qualified netminder this league has seen since the ISL?..... I would wager he took Rasto's pot and then some. When did we sign Fankhouser?

Bramley we tried option1, thats who we are replacing now! We need D!
Playoffs are built on D. Last season we had the ultimate playoff D man in Rees, every whistle he was in the oppositions face, putting guys off their game, not being spectacular but not making mistakes which hurt the team. We had the best D man in the league in Krajicek (IMO), we had the most transformed guy in Corey Neilson who was fantastic for playoffs and Danny as part of that couldnt go wrong really but played his own game very very well.
People say Rasto won us the playoffs, some say Gallant, some say Mcaslan, I say it was our entire D.
This season weve replaced said best D man Krajicek with Stancok and Mr playoffs with Pelletier. Im not getting personal, not being funny but thats not enough.

ok chap what I meant was there the two options that seem available, option 1 seems more credible though as Ellis is looking for a playmaker
I actually agree with you entirely, from the start I thought our D looked understrength, I admit I didn't think Rees would be that hard to replace and remember you saying you thought it would and you were certainly right there. Our defense has been our big weakness this season without a doubt, It's been mentioned that we need five D-men but i really don't think we do, four solid guys would be enough unless we get a Brit foreward and then have five at the back.
Neilson has been brilliant all season and really our only big physical presence in the D corps, fair enough he's made some mistakes but his points output makes up for that and much much more, for me our only solid d-man.
Meyers hasn't been bad at all but is certainly not the confident player he was last season when next to Kraciek. needs good players around him to really stand out.
Stancok, very average season which when taking how many penalties he's had into consideration a big reason our D hasn't been firing properly.
Pele, a good guy which I like but as a D-man he's the kind of player I'd only want to add to an already solid D because quite simply he isn't a solid d-man himself.
you mention Kraciek Rich and I agree he was good but I also thought the D was unbalanced with too much offence and that really we could only have him or Neilson and not both, maybe with a Rees type player partnering both it could work but with Meyers having an attacking style it just seemed too much. In an ideal world I'd of loved to have kept Rees and added a Briane Thompson sort of player to replace Kraciek, this would I believe have been a possible league winning D.

Yep, cant argue with any of that Bramley. My post wasnt a dig, I know what you were saying, I was just saying id like a D man because option 1 failed, and always will.
Last seasons D wasnt perfect dont get me wrong but they all made a unit and knew each others game. This season you cant say that would ever happen. Pelts plays his own game and doesnt play to the system. I like D men to play how iv always played, simple!
Rees was awesome because I love the style of D man he is. Munn at sheffield and Mcmillan at Manc would be my first 2 signings. Im not saying its necessarily the most important position in the hockey but on a big ice surface you need simple plays, you cant carry D men going off onto the wing and standing in the opposition corners.
D wins championships. Cliche but true. With a solid D youve got a solid core which allows your forwards to just do their job. Bad D means wingers have to cover D and not do their job, which is where our problems have come

And that is exactly the way thompson has won season after season isnt it Rich...
It is no surprise he has kept the best d man in the country for years in Martin (not my opinion the leagues , look at how many times he has been in the all star team vote)....and he always chooses what is potentially the best keeper to play behind the solid D too...

And thats in a rink where he can get away with not concentrating on it so much Texpef. Traps systems and defence arnt as important on a small slow rink like Cov yet, as you say Thommos first 2 signings are Martin and a netminder

Munn and MacMillian, agree totally about those two guys, simple honest stay at homes who refuse to get pushed around. Two guys I'd love next season alongside Neilson and Meyers

I heard that Cory Morgan was stalling with the Vipers as he wants more money and is going to Nottingham. With the Vipers going to sign a former player.

The 2 year contract didn't mean tessier stayed for all that contract. there no point in saying someones signed a two year contract you might as well announce it that you have signed a player on a two week contract it all means the same
