I promise you all, like I did with Dwayne Hay, that you've signed a player and it is none other than NM Tom Askey.
Will be announced this week
*p.s. mods, I'll post it here first so you lot don't get your knickers in a twist*

It is indeed Shorty, and is probably the guy seen in the Pitcher and Piano with some of the players last week. According to Wikipedia, he has a strange superstition of not cleaning his gloves all season, as he believes that the foul smell will tame the puck! Whatever floats his boat, I suppose! Good AHL pedigree though, and 7 games in THe Show to his credit.

Another goalie struggling with a poor defence in front of him?

Id be happy enough, stats dont set me on fire with anticipation but hes played at a very high level all his career and hes got a bit more size at 6ft 2 so hopefully hes a bit more of a stand up goalie. Coupled with a stay home D man we could be getting somewhere!

I guess this fits in with David Clarke being back in Nottingham? Probably been speaking Ellis about his team in Italy and their NM, good ole clarky, he should come back too >_< (unlikely)

But surely if the D is still abit floppy a NM alone wont change things..

Taken from the HC Aleghe website (and translated via google [martinski83 doesn't do italian])
The goalie Tom Askey is no longer welcome in the dressing room so the goalie from all listed as a possible best goalie of the Italian league Alleghe leave.
"It is also a decision taken in the dressing room. The lack of commitment goalie convinced us to make a choice. It communicates without enthusiasm President Renato Rossi. He was the first to believe in the potential of doors, not only on the basis of a statistical commendable but especially for the recommendations of a goalie like James courses and Joe Christian.
"I can not understand what has happened - Rossi continues - we were expecting much from this goalkeeper. Unfortunately, this is the only possible solution. Ghunter Hell has already linked with the changing room and is ready to take at bay our cage. However striking the sincerity with which the president remembered as the choice to give up Tom Askey was also suggested by the changing room.
The article went on to say that former Alleghe n/m Niklas Sunblad (It's not Sundberg.. I had to look twice though) would return as he was a favourite both with fans and in the dressing room. He also has a good record at the club. The President said he had good memories of Sunblad too. --------
Oh goody. Make of this what you will. The article doesn't exactly make sense from a direct translation and I'm not going to start adding bits in to make it make sense as that could change the meaning of what was actually written.

Did that press release say the changing room suggested he was sacked?

Did that press release say the changing room suggested he was sacked? The way I read it (bear in mind his stats are 87%) is that he was unpopular in the dressing room, the coach wanted him out and the President cut him reluctantly. The President seems surprised because he is the top NAME netminder in the Italian league and he cannot understand why Askey is so unpopular.

From the photo I can't quite decide whether he has unusual goal celebration, and esoteric keeping style or just has a habit of tripping over his skates................. ;D

Hopefully if we sign him he'll be a bigger hit here, how more advanced is the italian league? In terms of EIHL standards he could be alot better,.

Maybe he was just having issues settling in over there. The language barrier, team mates, fans getting on his back. I dunno, sometimes it happens. I don't get it though, we must be announcing two names if it's this guy as well.
We still need a replacement for PC.....which was due to be announced this week.
