how about just let Rasto and Stancok go, replace Stancok with a big stay at home and get a good center in as Drouin's replacement, simple enough. no need for a big foreward with Shmyr Bergin Neilson and another big stay at home guy, thats more than enough toughness for our league Sounds reasonable too me! Thats exactly how i see it. I can see Stancok getting released long before pelletier!

I believe that over the past few games Pele has played better hockey, he is more aware of what his true position is and is playing the puck alot better, nice to see him getting a couple of goals aswell especially his cracker against newcastle near the blue line.

I can see him going soon i hope but hopefully Ellis will learn from his mistake and find a big stay at home D man before releasing Stancock.

What i dont understand here is people are talking about releasing Stancock (and i am not saying he shouldnt be released) BUT surely we are still to replace a HIGH END EARNER nearly FOUR weeks after releasing Drouin, why not concentrate in getting a FULL roster then look to improve the team?...

Since Drouin went we have won 4 out of 5, including 3 on the road, and in many fans opinion have looked more like a team. As for a replacement, we all know of one who was lined up but had to pull out, and as Panthers never reveal signings until it is sealed (quite rightly in my ominion) who knows what efforts they have been making. The wrong man now would be a waste of an ITC, and the money that has been saved gives them more spending power.

or just more money in the backpocket Rumpole...
Winning or losing with a player down is irrelevant as surely fans pay to see a full compliment of players not a team with a man short especially as no doubt when this player does come in the team will have been an import down for what is in effect 1/6th of the season. Tell me, which other team in the league has endured that?
I see where you are coming from and to some extent i agree with you about losing a player who had signed (although the cynic in me suggests this was a retired player who was liable to be injured anyway and announced as a signing to get the fans off the management's back) however when we are still waiting for the "right" player nearly a month after we had a vacancy it strikes me as a money saving exercise, especially when teams with less money than the panthers can find players ie pretty much every other team in our league....

Just clear this up for me please. Has Rasto been released or not. Nothing on the Panthers website says he has?

Winning or losing with a player down is irrelevant How is winning or losing irrelevant with a player down? People come to see the team winning, not to see X number of players there. Silly comment!

I think the suggestion is that a team which is shortbenched as a result of it's own mishandling of its hiring and firing results in a weakened team which, in turn, means a lower quality product on the ice.

said it better than i there 9 plus also if the remaining players are having to play more it leads to more tired players which leads to more injuries....
but what gets my goat is the way the club are basically pocketing the money as they did when tessier was released plus the compensation (which did not go to replace him with a equivalent player) on the grounds of "waiting to get the right player". I admit this is important but why the hell is there always a delay which other teams appear not to have?...

The wage-cap provides for the whole team for the whole season, so I don't see why you think this.

No he hasn't - that's why its not on the Panthers' website. Panthers are in a position whereby they do not need to release him to accomodate Askey, and it makes sense to keep Rasto on the roster (nice alliteration there!) just in case. Assuming all goes well with Askey, I'd expect him to be released, but it's not happened yet.

IF other threads are to be believed, Rasto was on a plane home yesterday.
I personally don't like the idea of running with 2 import netties and 1 forward down. IF we had high end Brits (Weaver, Clarke Tait etc), then I think we could. Unfortunately we don't, we have some good Brits but not "Import quality"
