Ive heard that he will be coming to us but belfast and us are in a bidding war between him. dont know weather he will come as a backup or a starting or who will leave?
What do we al think about it?

If (big IF) Lyle left Bison and if (again, another big IF) he came to Panthers then it would be as starting netminder, no doubt about it. There's no way Wooly's money would cover a signing like Lyle and there's no way Lyle would be content to sit on the bench for the rest of the season.

I think I can pretty much rubbish this rumour.
Either that or our starting netminder will be due a massive payday.

Can't see this being even remotely possible, for two reasons.
1). As probably the #1 British netminder around, Stevie Lyle will NOT be cheap. If he was... why would Basingstoke be ditching him? (assuming that they are, of course) - they're supposed to be cutting their payroll, aren't they?
2). I know a fair few people have a problem with Rasto... <shrugs> fair enough - I disagree, but there you go. The question is... would bringing Stevie Lyle in to replace Rasto solve any rpblems that we may currently be having? Personally, I very much doubt it. Certainly not enough to justify the inevitable disruption of swapping a vital role... or the expense.
I'd definitely pick Belfast as his most likely EIHL location... but there could be others. No wage-cap in the EPIHL, remember....

Would Lyle coming in solve our problems? Yes because it would free up an import slot with which would could sign either that elusive stay-at-home defenceman or that face-off winnings centre we know that we need.
Maybe he wouldn't be cheap but I very much doubt Rasto is cheap either and given the choice between a struggling Belfast side and a Panthers side that until Saturday looks on the up he might be willing to drop his wage demands a little to join what looks to be the more promising.
We shall see...

signing Lyle over rasto mid season for import slot wouldnt make sense...
You are still only allowed 15 all season and only 10 at one time.
We have used 11 already, 10 original plus Bergin.
We cut Rasto and though we have a good british goalie if we use it on an import player thats 12 used.
Ellis will want to keep one for himself, 13.
One for injury, 14.
One for late on in the season if anyone NEEDS to be cut, 15.... really wouldnt make much sense.

Lets face it theres ways around the wage cap if we want to win something the wage cap isnt the issue. Stevie has links with panthers, including our coach.
If we are in a bid war with belfast with their star team how can they afford him? If they then bring in another import which Lyle freed up how can they afford that?!
Personally id be happy with Lyle in for Rasto then Ellis playing himself until christmas then(or whenever one becomes available) bring in another import D man.

i would imagine Lyle would be on more than Rasto (educated guess), add to that the money we would have to pluck out of nowhere for that extra import (otherwise having a Brit netty is no advantage), thats alot of money out of a wage cap that is i would imagine "stretched" already. fair enough there are ways around the cap but surely the league will only be so lenient and will step in if enough complaints are made (ie Simms would have a field day), imo we must be pretty close to taking the mick with our wages as it is, add Lyle and an import to the mix and only take away Rasto, we'd be well over the line.
unless another player is to go? theres certainly one i dont think looks completely happy atm

Not unhappy as such, but i was expecting abit more from him from the steelers game and i dont mean the whole fighting side, i mean his role in general, looked good at the start against coventry and manchester but as of late, i dunno..seems abit meh.

stats arent everything.... we got some on the top points scorers in the league on our team and we're still an average mid table team.
