Quite a few of us have moaned about the poor service, quality of food & beverages @ the NIC. Hopefully this article taken from www.nottingham-arena.com is a sign of things improving. Bosses at the National Ice Centre and Nottingham Arena have signed a tasty new deal with Leith’s, the conference and banqueting specialists of the Compass Group. The new £11 million contract will see Leith’s running the food and beverage operation for the next five years at the region’s leading entertainment, sport and conference venue. They will cover seven public food and beverage outlets around the Arena and two onsite cafes, ‘Icebreakers’ and ‘T&D Cafe Bar’. In addition, Leith’s will also manage the entire conference, banqueting and event business, including four function rooms (the largest of which accommodates up to 220 delegates), 40 executive suites for 12-28 guests, the exclusive ‘Directors Bar’ and the Arena itself, which can accommodate up to 10,000 guests. Geoff Huckstep, Chief Executive at the NIC and Nottingham Arena said: “The Leith’s brand is renowned for its extensive experience in providing first-class service, which is precisely what we require to further grow our business. I am confident that this partnership will be successful in reinforcing our reputation as an innovative and leading entertainment, conference and sports venue.” Leith’s Operations Director, Andy Hardy is equally excited about the new contact. He said: “The Leith’s aim is simple; to be the very best food and beverage supplier in the business and to offer each client a service that is tailored to their needs. The potential for growth at Nottingham Arena is immense. It is widely regarded as the leading venue in the East Midlands and we at Leith’s, are very much looking forward to building a successful relationship.”

meh - I hate websites that make me fill in an application form in order to view them. Think I'll just wait and see what happens to the catering.

As regards joining the website, I hear ya...but it's good if you like advance ticket on-sale notifications etc. They often let you book before events go on general sale (priority booking etc)

I already get junk mail from them via their mailing list. Is this something in addition to that?

Is it too much to expect them to put the prices down a touch? At the moment, they're extortionate.

I would only expect them to rise. The current prices fall into line with those at most other entertainment venues (eg football and cricket stadia) and are consideably cheaper than festival prices.
Not that I am defending the pricing in any way, I am not. But when there is little/no alternative then you either pay the price or go without!
I would hope that a vast improvement in quality would offset any increase in cost to the customer.

May I be the first to suggest that a thread with the wildly improbable title "NIC Catering to Improve?" - even with a question mark - belongs on the Rumours thread?
Like most of the stuff on that board, it is definitely in the "I'll believe it when I see it" category.

About time too! I bought a pepsi at the Masters Football event and couldn't drink more than a quarter of it! Agreed about the prices, hope they're not increased again.

Hopefully the high price will be down to the "London" price factor. But then as Grumpy minor said, a closed market can charge what it wants. Most of the fodder there is take it or leave it (mainly leave it) I do agree with the quality Vs Price argument. If the quality is there, I will pay the price and vice versa, if I pay a high price, I expect a certain level of quality.

After last nights showing - things haven't improved. Pint of lager now £3.00. The size of a drink of coke/pepsi has shrunk by about half, & now costs £2.00 What a joke & what a rip off.

The new company has had 2 months to get organised for last nights match, so why weren't they? ? If they can't even get the basics right for the first game what hope have we for the rest of the season?

What made me laugh though, was it says on the board 16oz Pepsi - £2. not sure is a 500ml bottle is 16oz
Take a walk to the nearest vending machine and the 500ml pepsi is only £1.20 - crazy but worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks LPS - so it is 80p cheaper at the vending machine, surely the catering company would have seen that?

When I asked them ''is that it?'' & they replied that it was, I said ''That's poor...very poor. Wear a mask next time ya serve me. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed people''
