taken from the sunday star,
Belfast want to bring ex-Manchester storm star Troy Neumeier beck to the elite league.
Giants boss Ed Courtney has to find a replacement for his top defenceman JP Molin who turned doen a new deal to join German side Bad Tolz.
So Neumeier ,36 has jumped to the top of Courtneys shopping list as he closes in on his last two signings to complete his squad.
The one time Vancouver Canucks draft pick spent four years in Manchester.
But he has stayedat home in North America since the start of the 2001-02 campaign.
Now hes keen to return and is odds on to end up at the Odessey.
Courtney said "I've got four guys for two jobs , two for each position, and i want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. "Troy was a pretty solid defence man a few years ago.i played against himand the only questionis that hes a little bit older now.But i've talked to friends of mine who played against him while he was at Lubbock Cotton kings last year and they say hes still a really solid ,sound defenceman.
"i am leaning towards him but things can change."
i also read in the daily star last week, that officials have been told to abondon games next year if trouble breaks out on the ice and either the ref or lines man get hit ,either accidentlly or on purpose AND the police will be called in such cases and the player in question prosecuted,(the artical wasn't was more in depth than that but it was a week ago )
if either of these topics have been covered on other threads i apologise but i've been away .

Solid signing. I'm content with this one.
"In 2004/05 Troy won the UHL's Defenseman of the Year Award after leading the league with an amazing +47 plus/minus rating."
This guy will be with us to play a stay at home game. He will be a good player in the EIHL.

Possibly a little past his best. Had a good season 3 years ago, but nothing stellar since then.
A little concerning that there are few good D men around if this is the best the Giants come up with

I want to cry, probably my all time favourite D man. Was the best D man in the ISL IMO when I was playing junior and he was my idol for a bit!
Hopefully past it. Although he may shatter my illusions lol.
Just take comfort in the fact Sebastian was a decent D man for the storm around the same time and look at him lol

Two years ago he had a franchise record of +47 And last season he won his teams ironman award for not missing a game and i believe logging some of the highest minutes. Just goes to show the stats on hockey DB dont show all.

Interesting signing, it makes me think whether he will be beaten for pace more than often this season? I'll wait to see on this one.
