I would love to see Patrik Wallenberg back in a Panthers jersey again... a quality player. Me too. I remember him scoring a cracking goal against Ayr while skating in on the left wing. Fab player!

The thing I remember most about him was his wraparound attempts... I swear goalies started to get really nervous every time he was behind the net! ;D

That's the goal I always remember. He had no right scoring it, but he did. Tunster, I don't do the rumours thing. When Panthers sign someone we''ll know who it is. Guesswork and rumour mongering will ultimately achieve nothing. As stated previously, I won't be back tracking with indecent haste. Unlike many on Steeltalk as regards Cornish.

I wasn't aware that the rules stated I must post rumours on this thread if I posted at all.
But if I must, I've heard that any player being linked to the Panthers will be intimately scrutinized by several Steeler fans so as to advertise their obvious weaknesses to fans of the Panthers, who use The Cage Forum.

I would love to see Patrik Wallenberg back in a Panthers jersey again... a quality player. HOWEVER - I'm not sure (at this late stage in recruitment) that he's exactly what we need. I think we need someone bigger and more physical up front (2nd line winger slot, isn't it?) I remember being pleasantly surprised how physical Wallenberg was when he played for us. Held his own in the corners as I recall and whilst no pugilist, I think he stood up for himself when things got a bit rough. Patrik didn't fit my stereotyped image of a Swedish forward at all! ;D He did very well for us.

Wallenberg left Leksands IF on 2 April 2007, and to date, hasn't surfaced on any Swedish team's roster from their top 3 levels, so there may be some mileage in this one!
Personally, I would love him back, as one of the reasons he came here initially was that his style fitted a Canadian style checking game than the typical Swedish game! ;D

I would be very suprised to see Bergin sign. he was featured in an article that was posted on both the Phoenix website and indeed this very forum.
In summary he said he found UK Hockey an interesting experience, but was unlikely to play in the Uk again. If he didnt play in North America this season he would likely want to play on mainland Europe.

Fairy snuff.... to be honest, I can't really remember much what he was like off the puck and against the boards, etc... I just remember a good turn of speed and some lovely attacking moves. If he is physical enough, then... let's have him! Would be nice to have a good excuse to bring out the Wallenberg replica... ;D

HL is that the article that had a little critism and also talk of coming for silly money when he was here??? Not bad stats in an average team last year , but didnt realy notice him when we played.

According to todays South Wales echo Jason Silverthorn has verbally agreed terms with the Devils and should be confirmed by the weekend.

Bergin - No
Wellenburg - never saw him play so no comment.
i reckon we could do better than get kevin bergin, as many people hav quoted he came here for the money last season, and whenever we played bison, he always stuck out to me as being a bit lazy, and not prepared to go to any lengths to get the puck back and make a presence of himself on the ice, so no thank you.
Wellenburg i cant comment on but having read through peoples descriptions of him, i gather he was quite an exciting player and would do the dirty work (correct me if i get the wrong end of the stick) a kind of Max birbraer kind of player ?!
anyways with more signings immanent i still think ME has a trick or 2 up his sleeve

I'm confident it is NOT Patrik Wallenberg although I know we have talked to him. If things have changed I'll be delighted but it looked to have fallen through.

Wallenberg and the Panthers did discuss a contract, but talks broke down so Paddy won t be coming unfortunately, was a quality player thats for sure but on the other hand not sure hes the right player to fit in taking into account whats already been signed. Bergin would do a awesome job on that 2nd line though

I'd be surprised if it was Bergin considering the interview he gave. The overall tone of the piece was that he wasn't that impressed with the hockey in Britain and didn't seem prepared to put the effort in. Most definitely didn't come across as a team player, more a money grabber and quite self centred.
He would have to jump through hoops to convince me otherwise.
Siverthorn wasn't a bad player and maybe would improve in a potentially better team, but again he would have to prove his worth.
