"Steelers coach Dave Matsos will make a fresh approach to tough right wing Blue Bennefield in an attempt to complete his line for the 2007-08 Elite league season" How much more in the hunt for him do you want Matsos to be? Batter his door down and drag him accross the pond? ;D

it is a nothing article and if you want to read more than that into then so be it.... Your right, it is a nothing article. You could say that about every single artile, in every single paper, unless its a confirmation of a signing surely? You said that Borrussia10 was wrong in saying According to todays Star were still in the hunt for him Which it quite clearly does. If you want to try your best, for whatever reason, to make us all believe that this signing won't happpen and that we have spent all our cap, then so be it.......

nowhere had i written anything whatsoever about cash or otherwise... its just that basinstoke, cardiff, manchester, even nottm local rag could have written the article and he would be just as close to signing for them as he is to you, its just that other papers tend to be more conservative than sheffield which write cack like this for fans like you to lap it up....

Not on this thread you didn't no. No one said we were close to signing him did they? Just stated a simple fact, that the Star wrote we were in the hunt for him, which it did. You then proceded to say that person was wrong, which they weren't.

Would this by any chance be the post in which you refer to John steelers last signing... « Thread Started on Jun 15, 2007, 11:51am » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The club are in talks with 6ft 3in right-wing Blue Benne-field’s agents. Sheffield see him as the perfect player to protect their smaller, skilled forwards. Calgary-born Bennefield took 147 penalty minutes last season in 61 games for ECHL side Gwinnett Gladiators. Steelers general manager Mike O’Connor said: “Its true we have made inquiries and are in talks with his people.” Bennefield would ease Matsos’ concerns about his highly skilled players being pushed around in the smaller rinks, such as Coventry and Cardiff, in the past four seasons. O’Connor continued: “Benne-field would be the toughest guy in the league we feel, but he can also play and would be an important team member.” As rumoured now confirmed by the star regarding their last signing, still think they have zero money left in the pot so imho think what they want and what they end up with are two different things. ie imho their last signing i suspect will be a cheap thug like cornish. Also to be honest "toughest player in the league" oh please give me a break... « Last Edit: Jun 15, 2007, 11:53am by texpef » Suppose we can only hope that this signing does come off as think he would prove to be quite productive! ;D

as ever we will see wont we... and am far from convinced "blue" if he does sign for the steelers will be anything more than a third line winger anyway... Oh and whilst on the subject given the players already signed for sheffield do you yourself feel that there is much left in the pot? ? Or as ever do the rules not apply north of nottingham?

TBH i have no idea what any of the players are earning, if it was an out and out wage i would say the pot will be sparse, however, due to the Uni courses for two players, Doug Shep. being Assistant Coach, Finnerty & Lehman wiVes having jobs (The ones we know about) There is the possibility there is a reasonable wage left in that pot. Fingers crossed!!!
When you say "and am far from convinced "blue" if he does sign for the steelers will be anything more than a third line winger anyway" What exactly do you mean?
From looking at his playing stats i feel he would be quite productive in the EIHL, And easily as good as any other third line winger in the league, if not better!

as ever we will see wont we... and am far from convinced "blue" if he does sign for the steelers will be anything more than a third line winger anyway... Good Tex, because thats exactly what were after, a 3rd line winger. And as far as I'm concerned, there wont be many better 3rd line wingers in the league next term. Oh and whilst on the subject given the players already signed for Sheffield do you yourself feel that there is much left in the pot? ? Or as ever do the rules not apply north of Nottingham? To be honest Tex, I have no clue whats left in the pot, care to enlighten us mere mortal fans? If you were to ask me if I believe we are sticking to the cap, my answer would be yes. That does not mean the players are only getting the money allocated to them in their wage packet though does it. Lets face it teams, including the whiter than white Nottingham Panthers, have done it for years now. If there isn't much space left in the cap, I'm sure we could give him a nonsense coaching role ey? The question you asked, I will turn it on your good selves. With the quality of players you have signed so far, do you think you have much left? So Marc Lefevbre and Jeremy Cornish to the Panthers it is then.

Oh that old Chestnut again! How exactly did we circumvent the rules Tex? Did we have too many imports?, No. Did we not have enough Brits? No. Did Blaisdell use his nous to sign two cheap imports, meaning more cap space to spend on higher end imports? Yes. So did you break the rules last year then, when you signed Simoes and Emersic because they were cheap? I really, really fail to see the problem with this one. Even from an incredibly bitter Panthers point of view.
