Not so forthcoming with the Clarke news though. Does it mean bad news for you guys? Why bad news? Ellis would have other plans in the pipeline should Clarkie decide to play elsewhere I should hope he has, But surely losing your best British player and the leagues top goal scoring brit is bad news? What else could it be? I know Ellis must have a decent idea on EPL Brits, but are you honestly telling me he will be able to find a 30+ goal scorer from there?

Exactly John.
As much as I don't rate Clarke much as an all- rounder, you cannot hide the fact that he will probably score the most goals of all Brits in this league. That end product is going to be the key to fill for you to be successful this season. If Levers/ Richardson are the replacements on the British front, you're going to have to rely more on your imports to get those points, because neither of them are going to bang in 30 goals. They will, however, bring more things to the plate than Clarke did, IMO.

if we stick with our four d-men plus Shmyr as back up we dont need Clarke, having six import forewards is plenty when you consider our already signed Brits are Levers Myers and Richardson, getting Clarke i dont think will affect us that much, if anything it will just give us more to spend on those final imports.
there are plenty of Macaslans out there, as much as i do want him back its true

I.e. 4 d (1 British) and an extra import forward? So with the loss of Clarke, your forward lines will be weaker (in theory), than last season?

We still have the 6 imports, but without having to pay Clarke's wages, those 6 imports could/should be of a higher standard. Molin & Drouin for Stevens & Cardarelli looks like a good swap to me, hardly weaker. We're still well capable of having at least as strong an attack as last year with or without Clarke. We'll not know how strong (even on paper) until the wash cycle finishes and the whole team has signed. Having Clarke would undoubtedly give us more depth though and on balance I'd certainly prefer to have him than not!

I don't doubt that you will have equally as strong, if not stronger import forwards, but having an import quality Brit forward gives you a lot more options. Not only is Clarke an import quality Brit, but he also isn't a gamble. You know what he can/will produce. I would imagine he would get at least 20+ goals every year. E.g. With Clarke you could have - Mcaslan + Clarke + Richardson + Levers + middle of the road import (someone like Petricko) Without Clarke you cloud have - Mcaslan + Mcaslan (someone similar obviously ) Richardson + Levers. So with him, you would have a lot more depth, if ya get me. ;D

With that logic we could have had Clarke and Simoes (last season) or Mohlin and Levers this season. I know of that pairing which will get more points.

Yes, of that paring, Molin and Levers would get more points (Not by that many though I would think). I think Molin will struggle to achieve the same amount of points without Tony Hand. A) Because of Hand's ability. and B) Because of the ice time you get on Hand's line playing for a team coached by Hand himself. My point being, if you signed Clarke, you could spread the scoring across more players, have more depth and not just rely on a few guys. What if one or two of them get injured? or have a cold streak? Its all about personal preference, but with a high scoring Brit forward I feel you have a real edge and it gives you a lot more options.

But if the high scoring Brit gets injured, you then have a huge problem as there are no ready made replacements

But if the high scoring Brit gets injured, you then have a huge problem as there are no ready made replacements Yes, but in the mean time, you have a decent quality import ready to replace him. Its not as easy as it may seem to get a top quality import replacement half way through a season. If you have no top end Brit, and a high scoring import gets injured, you have no one to step up, other than a low end Brit. For example, If Macaslan got injured, its highly unlikely you would be able to find an equal replacement, or even decent replacement quickly.

According to this site, McAslan is joining Stevens in Amiens (click on 'Transferts' and scroll down to the list of arrivals at the bottom). If you look more closely at this Web Site under the Tranferts button, you will notice that the 'Confirmed' transfers are all in BOLD Those not yet confirmed are not in Bold. Therefore Sean is not confirmed. So according to last nights NEP Ellie says Sean had turned down Amiens offer. So lets all watch the Panthers and/or NEP news. The war is not lost until it has officially been announced.

Therefore Sean is not confirmed. That's why it's on the rumours board. So according to last nights NEP Ellie says Sean had turned down Amiens offer. Nope. Ellis said Sean told him he'd turned down an offer from France. Didn't say anything about turning Amiens down.
