what has to be said must be said and my arrogance, saying something daft like stuff this league panthers are going to Europe that kind of daft People have opinions and ideas on europe ! i dont ! Also comments such as .. Panthers have a GOOD team Steelers have a GREAT team ect.. Please if your going to be a troll try to be good at it!! Many steeler fans come on the cage and give there say and do it in a pleasent way! Why come on a panthers forum and try to start arguments on all different threads. Give your views and points but have respect... this is a panthers forum!

Having watched it again I'd maybe say a draw, but Moran got the takedown which always gets bonus points!!! hehe I know when I saw it live I thought Mopes won... Why? a takedown is an indication you want the fight to end, once that happens you've ben in trouble when you've been on your feet. I disagree. The guy who ends up on top of the heap is regularly hailed as the victor. (Unless he took a proper beating of course!)

the takedown means nothing to the result of the fight at all. if a player decides hes had enough or he cant get out of a certain position (tangled in his shirt) then he goes for the takedown.
annoys the hell out of me when people said player A did got the edge in that fight over player B because he got the takedown at the end, why?? considering these players are balancing on thin blades with only ice underneath them getting the other guy to loose his balance is hardly a skill is it.

Nick But everyone considered Cote a legend, and Hip throws were basically all he ever did! But when he tripped bigger guys to the ground and gave em a face wash everyone loved it!

everyone loves a little fiesty guy who gives as good as he gets, thats what Cote was.
certainly certainly no legend, just a good player who probably got more attention than normal because he was on a poor roster

I would LOVE us to sign Cote as our 1st Line centre!! I feel with the 1st line looking like it may be Molin & Drouin, we need a Centre who isnt afraid to get stuck in and do the dirty work which is what Cote is. He may only be a point a game player but would be just what out 1st line needs.

He had a brief stint in the AHL last year I believe (On the same team as the squealers new D man i think.)
Nick - you're right. Over zealous use of the word 'legend' on my part!

Re: Who wins a fight, I'd say its:
1. Who sits the other guy on his arse wins, 2. If the first point doesnt happen, whoever lands the most punches, 3. If neither of the above two distinguish a winner, the guy who gets the takedown and ends up on top.

getting the takedown and landing on top, so i manage to make you lose your balance and i land on top and i win, yeah right.
thats when its called a draw

In your opinion dude. Personally, i agree with your above scenario. If no-one lands any punches, the takedown indicates the winner. It wont be a good fight but a win none-the-less.

And I have done a lot of Judo - when the example above is exactly what is required to win! ;o)

Nick Understandable but in what way were you fighting competitively? The guy above has got a point too, different sports require different fighting attributes. Opinion accepted and i know you weren't mate, if on ice though i think the takedown shows strength (Or possibly, in some cases, luck).

i boxed, which is probably the closest type of hand to hand that hockey enforcers use. in certain arts its true getting the takedown is the key but these arts are way wide of the mark for what is used on the ice.
strength of punch number of punches fighting ability and skill
these are what i count towards the result of a fight in hockey.
