I think it would count as very suprising if he returned to you yet after all that has gone before with a certain someone. I can see him coming back if the situation changes though, infact he has said as much in the past. Belfast I reckon are favourites despite Thommo's press release this affy saying he had signed for us. IMO that PR was a rash 'bite back' at Steelers and Simmsy, knowing it would get us all worked up and then fall flat when he goes over the water. ....Oh the games people play!..... Edited to add link. >>Thommo's Rant<<

hes expected to sign for sheffield or belfast he won't come back to panthers untill someones gone aparently Now had i said that, I would be petty and have an axe to grind. However knowing the story (from both sides), I totally agree with Ash, why stay at a club that offers you less than half the pay of a third rate import, even though you have been at the club 10+ seasons. Good luck Ash mate.

My money is on Tait signing for steelers , what that means for Panthers , makes no differance if he plays for Coventry / Belfast / or Steeler / all those teams will be playing to beat Nottingham next season with Tait in it or not , A. Tait is a Good player , but its the team he is in that has to gel to get the best out of him . as with any Player , you could have best Player ( Tessier) in the league and win NOWT Or have all the Luck ( Rasto) in the world and win the Play offs ;D Would I like him at Nottingham , YES I would and even more so if our captain is going .

what a shock! didnt see that one coming, honest. Good signing for sheffield, has he been brought in as replacement for tessier? if so he's a very good player but not as good as tess IMO.

I am shocked! I fully expected him to go over the water. Replacement for Tess? No mate Another announcement tomorrow, my guess would be Shep or Buzz.

no brought in as a replacement for moran!!!!
this is making a mockery of wagecap, exactly how much are they paying for ash to move from coventry where by all accounts he was earning a very good wage...
And it makes you wonder which imports they are wanting to bring in if the rumours are true regarding the wage they have offered weaver too.....

Nice one Tex, i wondered when that would come up.
You mentioned Moran, well I know how much he was on at your place mate, and it is not speculation, I know and I very much doubt Tait is on any more; so if he is as replacement for Mopes there is no problem as it would be a straight swap + change money wise.
Oh and BTW, Weaver has repeatedly stated he will not leave his scottish home mate making the yearly rumours of his moving anywhere other than Vips and Caps total dross.

How much Moran was on at our place is irrelevant though isn't it? - it's how much he was on at your place that is relevant when comparing with Tait's salary. That said, I'm not sure that now is the time for wage cap allegations anyway. However much a team spends on their Brits only becomes an issue once you know how much they've spent on their imports - it's the whole team's wages that need to be taken into account, and that can't happen until the whole team are signed. Maybe Shuff are planning to shift the balance of their team's wages from imports to Brits - losing Tess must've provided a lot of spare cash. Oh and BTW, Weaver has repeatedly stated he will not leave his scottish home mate making the yearly rumours of his moving anywhere other than Vips and Caps total dross. If he did move, he wouldn't be the first hockey player to say one thing and do another though would he? I don't trust anything that any of them say any more - I don't mean that as a personal comment against any of them individually, it goes for pretty much everyone involved in a UK hockey club in a professional capacity. I'm sure there are trustworthy individuals, I just don't know any of them well enough, so from experience don't trust what anyone in this sport in this country says.

Oh and BTW, Weaver has repeatedly stated he will not leave his scottish home mate making the yearly rumours of his moving anywhere other than Vips and Caps total dross. While I don't particularly think that we'll be seeing Weaver in a Panthers jersey next season I take everything a player says with a large pinch of salt. I'd be stunned if we could get Weaver in and wouldn't be too surprised to see him playing for the Vipers again next season but a player will often say one thing and then do something completely different, (Dan Tessier will only play for the Panthers if he returns to the UK....) so it isn't a surprise that he'll be linked with other teams.

The oter thing is the cap has not been made public so far, so as far as any of US know it could have been increased.
I would be stunned to see Weaves leave, I agree with everything people say about saying one thing etc, but this has been a constant for him all along, it's not money, it's not personal it is his home. Is commuting from mid Scotland practical?

Well technically Tait will be taking up 2 wages as it looks unlikely that Hill or Moran will be staying on. Therefore I'd say that just about keeps the figures in order for the British pack...
