lyle is a good enough netty to do that
if i was him i would try it
4import DMEN + MEYERS
6import forwards + hopefully clarke - Meyers - Cooke , ferrera - niel - whoever
if we could get that we would have the upper hand from the start IMO
nearly 4 lines and 3 very good lines at that

Good idea that i was thinking of myself, but i noticed a flaw in this plan, if he was to be injured we would have to replace him with another brit as we would still have a full import contingent, or de register an outskater! This may not make it a viable option.

thats what the back up is for mattcold
woolhouse has proved he is good enough to help us get the wins
that extra import would be a hard working, hard hitting import that could be afforded to let go if need be, aka steve simoes or patterson

thought this as soon as the import quota was dropped tp ten, only thing is Lyle is really the only one that fits the bill unless we can tempt Byron Defoe over here (yeah right) , saying that just because he was born here doesnt mean hes elligible

Byron Dafoe retired two years ago and I've found a youtube vid of him fighting Washington's Olaf Kolzig. Link

yeah that was a brilliant game, they held back a bit as they are good friends but still a classic game from a Bruins fans perspective. always liked him when he was a Bruin then found out he was English and was amazed

Nolan was Irish, Thomas and Dafoe were english. Thomas was from birmingham and Dafoe from Essex
Id be happy with Lyle. With goaltending being so important tho id go with Rasta and Lyle and make cuts elsewhere. I know it means youve got money and an import slot sat on the bench a lot but itd give options, keep both goalies on their toes and cover for Rasta if he gets injured

Irsh netties (and other players) and Brits now arent they? as of this season.
I can see this working TBH. Good british nettie with a strong D. British netties can hold their own.... Lee from Newcastle was incredible..... A few lapses showed his inexperience more than anything.... but technically... a damn fine keeper
As for shin... posting a fight on a hockey forum? Thats terrible... why you should be strung up by your toes for bringing the game in to such disrepute. Shame on you.

Or maybe he will bring back Rastislav Rovnianek & Someone like Lyle & alternate them so neither get injured & if they do it wont matter. 3 import d + Danny m , Jan one off them & maybe Rees 6 import forwards 1 being Ryan who can play D if needed, ie cover for injury + Sean McAslan. I would have Matus Patricko if he played with the same grit as he has the last 6-8 games but his early form was below what I expected of him. But for sure he can play when he is on form. Not sure about Rod his stats are good & he has looked a lot better since Trevor arrived but his early form was not as i expected. All the brits are ok to come back, my only worry is James Ferrara as i think James Neil can do just as good a job given the chance. Oh well time will tell who the coach signs. I am 100% behind him, every time you chat to him he knows what you are talking about & knows what he wants to do to try & make things work. maybe we will win some silverware next season if not the playoffs this season.

Surely someone as good as Lyle won't want to come and sit on a bench. And we don't want to waste salary cap space with someone sat on the bench. The EIHL schedule isn't all that punishing (2-2.5 games per week), so your #1 can play every game as long as they're relatively fit and don't get injured. So I don't think Lyle + import is a realistic option.
In terms of deciding between them, this depends on who we bring back of our current Brits. If Clarke, Myers and Meyers return I think we'd be better off having an import goalie and nine skaters. If some or all of them leave and we're a bit light on quality Brits then a Brit netminder might be an option - I haven't seen Lyle play for a few years so I don't really know what I think of the possibility of signing him tbh.

ferrera over Neil anyday for me, rough him up the slightest bit and hes out of the game, Ferrera is big enough to hold his own, Neil isnt
