I was sort of half joking there, But things with asking questions like this is that if there was anything concrete it would be big news and plastered all over forums discussing the management set up will it fail etc. When a london team is up and running im sure the originator of this thread will find out pretty quickly

Besides, my understanding is they need planning permission before they can start using the "concrete stuff".

Jay the Dome is now called the O2 arena already, it's under development inside for a massive arena, a smaller arena for hockey and basketball, shopping complex either side of the arena and more. The owners AIG own the La Galaxy football club and many other clubs including an NHL side, the also still own the name London Knights.
So it's still all up in the air, but if the arena is completed later this year like expected more likely the season after we could have a london team again.

As the O2 Dome has just lost out on the 'super casino', maybe a resident Hockey team is more likely than before.

AEG arent stupid they know there is no money from them in British ice hockey.
The best bet for an Elite league team in London is the new rink being built in Croydon, the same Rink Roger Black alluded to in a newspaper article about a month after the Racers went down.

Following the Super Casino licence going to Manchester, Anschutz now has other ideas for the Dome, or the space where it is at the moment if you catch my drift.
It may also affect Cardiff rather seriously too.

It may also affect Cardiff rather seriously too. If Cardiff had been given a super casino we would have had our new rink within 3 years. the council said without the super casino it will take 5. Now given the track record of our beloved council most devils fans are thinking 8 to 10 years, the insurence we have is that the Council were given around £20 million pounds by the european parliament to build this sports villeage and the terms are that there is a swimming pool (currently being built next to the tent) and a new ice arena and snow box. Now if the council fail to build our new arena then they have to pay £20 million back to the european parliament and i can see them struggling to do that.

Who is thinking bigger? They would need European teams to play in that and I don't see any hunger for that from Europe - who have better domestic markets than we do in many cases.

So Cardiff didnt get a super casino ... not good news for them. The current 'temporary' rink may well end up a little more permanent?
AEG didnt get what they wanted either. No casino at the dome, what next .... dust off plans for an arena/rink? That'd be nice

Manchester's new casino will have a 5000 seat arena and an ice rink. I don't know if these two are the same.
I'm guessing the Phoenix will play there.

They didn't bid for one of them and they've been alloted to cities already. Having said that, they'll get their Supercasino within the next 5 years.
