I'm pleased that a satisfactory end to this episode has been reached. Of course, the coat must not be worn for the next six games.

I had heard that Mr. D. Simms of Sheffield had try to introduce the jacket to 'The Family' Sunday night but the rightful owner of the jackets receipt had stepped forward and stopped this from happening.

And remember folks, you'll be able to buy your Shorty replica jackets from the merchandising stands on the concourse before the game.

Latest on the Sheffield web-site; "Someone left a jacket behind in Block 106 after the game on Saturday night after they left hurriedly on the final whistle to get home to watch, what was it Dave? Oh yeah, Lost".

On the leaving the jacket incident Shorty said "At the start of the cold snap I saw the jacket and thought it was a good fit on me and matched the rest of my clobber. As spring approaches it has become surplus to my requirements and I will be getting in a lightweight windcheater to take its place. The jacket was left behind with sufficient time for someone to make use of it before the weather really warms up. The jacket said it would never be worn by any other supporter than a Panthers fan and he wished Shorty all the best, and hoped that he might return as the nights draw in next winter. I am currently scouring the Freemans catalogue and will make an announcement in the next few days".

Possible replacement for Shorty's jacket? A friend of a friend tells me that Shorty now has his eye on an ex-NHLer to replace the now-no-longer-needed jacket for the play offs. Left on a Greyhound bus and found at the terminus at St Louis where it hasn't been claimed. Shorty's just waiting to get an import permit apparently. Good news if true, the experience of a former NHL jacket would prove very useful come the post season, providing adequate cover should there be a cold snap yet adaptable enough to be thrown over the shoulder should the weather get milder ... Here's a pic for the anorak bunnies ... Check out that stitching!

That'll do for me. Get it worn Shorty.
According to anorakdb it's a tog rating of 13 and reversible, with a removable inner. It's seen four NE winters and the owner hasn't felt cold once.
I know what I'm talking about here, on Mastermind my specialist subject was quilted anoraks, fourteen ninety-nine to sixteen ninety-nine.

Are you sure that ex-NHLer isn't going to put Shorty over the wage cap? It's bound to raise eyebrows up the M1. Edit: Actually, I'm more worried about what he's let go in order to afford the NHLer

STOP PRESS:
A complaint has been made to the Anorak Elite League following the recent rumour that an ex-NHLer was to be worn at the fabulous NIC. If sources are correct, someone has raised an eyebrow at the fact that the imported knitwear requires an import permit, and the Panthers may already have too many of this catergory of clothing on the hanger already.

In an effort to keep pace in the ever-escalating Jacket Arms Race, Gunnery Sergeant HartmanPaul Thompson has taken inspiration from "Full Metal Jacket" to add to the Coventry Blaze training sessions....
"This is my stick. There are many like it but this one is mine. My stick is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my stick is useless. Without my stick I am useless. I must hold my stick true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy, who is trying to beat me. I must check him before he checks me. I will. Before God I swear this creed: my stick and myself are defenders of my team, we are the masters of my enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen"

Sheffield steelers have just announced a new sponsor for the rest of the season. Bold 2 in 1 will now be the new jacket logo, with the press office stating that they hope that the new sponsor will help air their dirty laundery in public, or even clean it up!

Are we gonna have to start calling Shorty by a new name of 'Joseph'? His coat now seems to be well travelled, & is a coat of many colours? ;D

My jacket is refusing to make an appearance on centre ice before the game. It has advised me that as it is now famous, it wishes to re-negotiate its contract to include any marketing or promotional bonuses that I recieve as a result of its new found fame.

'PANTHERS JACKET CAUGHT UP IN STITCHISM STORM!' After a meteoric rise to fame and celebrity status, the jackets career looked to be in taters this morning after claims of stitchism in the celebrity big sweatshop house. The Viewer last night was said to be shocked and disgusted after hearing the jacket refer to fellow contestant scarf as "woolly tin shed neck tie" a row then erupted as the jacket and fellow bullies Shirt and cap began pretending not to understand scarfs Yorkshire accent. Amid fears of violence leading to unsolicited alteration, programme makers Endermend today decided to put both jacket and scarf up for public vote and warned against any kind of further tailoring threats. Another flare up then ensued over who had first dibs on the weekly zip grease. An ofstitch spokesneedle said today, " we are monitoring this situation very closely. we have received very nearly 1 full complaint! And take all matters of stitchism very seriously" Scarf meanwhile does not believe she has been the subject of stitchism, however she is not yet fully aware of all that goes on in the background out of her view. Channel Sews viewing figures meanwhile have taken a massive upturn since the row erupted. It is now believed that BOTH TV sets in the Simms household are tuned to the station for at least 5 minutes a day. This weeks eviction vote looks likely to break all records with at least 1 person suspected of maybe, possibly, thinking of voting, although this depends on whether or not he has grown bored with sticking pins in his eyes.

Now this is a thread worth reading. Are none of the kids on here saying stuff like "Ah yes, but there will always be a role for lost jackets in the game, and it's just something you've got to accept. PS Shorty's jacket is the hardest in the league"?
Talking of jackets got me thinking back to a game at the old place where just before face off a guy appeared in block 3 with a jacket that can only be described as "visible from Carlton". All sorts of flouresecent yellows and greens, in a bomber/paddock/rally jacket style. Block 9, in rare display of wit, were straight off with a chorus of "Where did you get that coat, where did you get that coat?" that the whole barn could hear. The coat never made a reappearance and has been lost forever, I fear. Anyone remember that?
