I`d like to say how proud I am of the Panthers after their weekend in Amien.
They went in as underdogs against top teams in europe full of international and NHL players and showed what we could do with a short bench some of whom are still teenagers.
They never let Nottingham or GB down, they showed grit and determination and I for one am PROUD TO BE A PANTHER.

Hi,
I'm an Edinburgh Capitals fan,but I just wanted to say well done to the Panthers for 3 fantastic performances in the Continental Cup.
Extremely unlucky not qualify for the next round, maybe next year though!
BUT I did hear Lubijana played their backup goalie in their last match against Milan. Are you guys not kinda miffed by that? Maybe their 1st choice goalie would have kept the score down?

Well done Panthers. I doubt many people thought you'd do anything, but two wins & a tie and still not be enough to go through Oh well, rules are rules. Credit to the team for being unbeaten in Europe Doesn't win us anything but it's still a good showing for the club

I didn't see all the match, because we left for something to eat! The back-up goalie got injured quite early in the last period, when the score was 9-2 and they bought Satossari (spelling??) on and he didn't let a goal in. It just goes to show that maybe if he had played the whole match, then he might of kept the score down to 4 or 5

Just got home after an excellent weekend. Yes, the lads were brilliant, and we were proud to be there as a Panthers fans.
It was a tough physical battle at times and I hope the injured Roman, Paul and Daniel recover soon.
Hope you all had a good commentary/webcast from Chris - I don't think he has much voice left now ;D

Congratulations From cardiff also To come home unbeaten and still knocked out must be gut wrenching but it is a great advert for British Hockey.

Also got home @ 7.00am this Morning! What a credit to the club, city, & country 'Our Boys' are. They played out of their collective skins. We got a bit battered & bruised at times..& I hope it doesn't damage our other campaigns. We'll have to wait & see. We were not given much of a chance by many, & to go out in such a fashion is cruel, especially when you think that technically we DID beat Milano...but hey ho!. Also, a HUGE...HUGE..HUGE..Thanks to Brenda Etches, for organising a superb trip for us all..it may not have seemed like it at times...but I did appreciate it

Got back at 5 this morning. Just woke up.
Well done everyone who was there, including all the fans. It was a truly brilliant weekend and everyone was so nice, with the exception of a couple of Milan fans from my hotel who found it funny to make monkey noises at me when I had my Craighead shirt on.
Everyone played to the best of their ability. Big well dones to Curtis, who was without a doubt the best keeper in the tournament, Ricci & Carlsson who didn't put a foot wrong at the back, Kalmikov for scoring 2 goals and 4 penalty shots, All the Brits for playing so well together, John Craighead for covering his face and not fighting against an Olympia player who was thrown out of the game for fighting. And to everyone else who played. You definately did us proud.

Was going to post on the main thread but it seems to have broken again. Got back from Amiens at 7am ish today after a truly fantastic weekend. Amiens isn't the liveliest of places but very friendly and a special thanks goes to the Pelforth bar for letting us take them over. By yesterday afternoon they opened up whenever they saw us coming. The team were incredible! I can't remember the last time I saw such a great defensive and in fact all round performance from a Panthers team. Ever single player turned up, particularly in the last two periods of Friday's game when we were down by four players. I have no doubt that if we hadn't sustained so many injuries we would be going to Norway next month. It was a shame that nobody thought to warn Craighead of a major difference in the fighting rules for IIHF competitions. THe fight was one which would have got him maybe a 2+10 in the EIHL but is standard as a 5+ Game in IIHF. I'm not a major JC fan but for the critics on here he did have a great weekend. The fight wasn't stupidity or lack of discipline, it was only lack of knowledge as could be seen by the 'fight' on Saturday.. The stand out players for me for the tournament were Cruickshank (obvioiusly) but also, and I'm surprised it's not been mentioned yet, Matt Myers. The lad played out of his skin every game. You couldn't help but notice when he was on the ice. As has been shouted so many times in the last three days, "Well played Matty!" Thanks again to Brenda for organising the whole thing and taking the hassle away from the rest of us. It really is appreciated twix Edit: I just found that Chris Ellis mentioned Myers in his post match interviews . Was just surprised to see no special mention of him anywhere else such as the NEP or on here.

Matt was deffinatly one of the stars of the weekend. You noticed him on the ice every shift. Well deserved MoM in the seconded game. I aslo thought that Kalmikov had a great weekend. I havn't really noticed him yet this season. But he really caught my eye this weekend. The lads really put on a show over the weekend, andnot only should Panthers fans be PROUD, but so should every hockey fan across the country. Again i also have to say a huge thank you to Branda Etches, for arranging such a fabulous trip.

Yeh, our trip with Brenda was truly fantastic, and what a great bunch of hockey people to spent an entire weekend together.
Must make one point though - wish we could create the noise and atmosphere that the Milano fans generated each game. Even the simple Milano oh-oh-oh seemed to outdo our Panthers chants. Then there were the Amiens fans with drums, trombones etc. But we did outdo the Ljubljana fans ;D because none turned up!

from what i saw on the internet live video (which was suprisingly good quaility + IT WAS FREE ) every body played really well even Krulis who i thought was pretty much a waste of time in the first few games.

A quote from the Evening Post: 'One save from Cruickshank was totally unbelievable as he launched himself across his goal to flick a goalbound shot over the bar with his stick, a stop which even had the home fans on their feet.'And here's a picture of it from the Amiens website:

Panthers proved they have what i takes to be a big team, maybe not as big as we would like but they did amazing this weekend, i was saying to my friends whilst we was over there that if someone had said we would come here and win 2 and draw one, meaning we was unbeaten i would have laughed in thier faces. I am really pleased i travelled there now, i wont have any essitation of travelling to places like this agian if we qualify in another season

A first time post from me - i met so many forum members out in France, i felt i just had to get myself a login & let everyone know how fantastic the team were. I was also on Brenda's bus - many thanks to Brenda for organising a great weekend & getting a super bunch of people together. Thoughts on the matches? Well i have to echo most peoples comments about Curtis being player of the tournament. I looked on in disbelief as Rosenthal failed to net from 2 yards into a seemingly empty net - having seen the amazing photo above, now i know why! All the players played their part but standouts to me were Ivan & Kalmikov (3 out of 4 penalties converted & a short handed breakaway), both these guys worked so hard & were a constant threat. Matt Myers had a huge tournament, not only throwing massive checks but also making things happen offensively with great stickhandling. On the D Calle & Scott were just awesome. A special mention has to go to JC. Whatever anyone thinks about his performances this season, that guy was under extreme pressure all weekend. He was clearly a target of all 3 opposing teams & also seemed to get special unwarranted attention from the officials. The 10 minute misconduct he picked up last night was just a joke. On top of all that he was the subject of appalling, unacceptable personal abuse from both the Italian & French fans. I gather Andy French who was present at the games intends to submit a letter of complaint to the IIHF. I didn't hear any plea for restraint being issued over the PA system atall. I thought JC showed admirable control in games 2 & 3. Little wonder that he skated straight off at the end last night without staying to share any pleasantries with the locals! All that & he still found time to put away 2 goals .
