Just a good memory Andy!
Oh, and a link to Pete's Panthers history site, which conveniently includes the points-per-game averages for every player.
Anyway, this part of the forum is well worth devoting a bit of time to for misty-eyed old nostalgists such as myself.

Ian Morgan without a doubt....dont think the guy had ever skated before..being serious!!! also.. ,mentions to Adolfsson, Greg Burke, Savoie, Aaron Cain (although cant fault his personality and humour) Brian Cox ( a net minding style of..throw your arms and legs out in a starfish style and hope it stops the puck every so often!) and my personal bug bear Jeff Sebastian!

lol the more I read this the happier I am with our current team.
Sorry but I guess youd have to add Robbie Worthington and Phil Butler as both never made it off the bench really. I wudnt say Clayton Norris deseves to be on there, he just went about his job as a tough D man and in the old rink Beaulieu was a huge presence. Shocking on the big ice tho I admit!

The worst player since I started watching is definitely Ian Morgan. I can remember his first shift - jumped over the boards and virtually went a over t.

I remember seeing Phil Butler score a hat trick Rich! Every goal was a tap in after he came out of the box and joined our import penalty-killing line (Taylor, Premak, Brebant and Lambert I believe) - he hit the puck a combined distance of about 5 feet for his three goals. An absolute nutter - he was one of those players who would literally have skated through a brick wall if the coach had told him to. I have heard that the Butlers are now running a successful sports (golf I think) equipment business down here in their native West Midlands these days.

There was no doubting the effort of the fringe brits in those days, they really went every inch and then some but they werent the most gifted. Il take your word for the hattrick! Glad hes doing ok at least! Add onto that Paul Blayj (Spelling). I dont have much confidence in Geoff but Bloj was the kind of goalie who could lose you a 10goal lead from 9 shots Sorry im sure he was a top bloke but I dont remember having much confidence in him!

It's funny looking back how certain names spring to mind, like Larter & Farley, but they must have been doing something right. Larter got 13 points in 5 games and Farley 15 in 6. I thought they managed about four between them ;D Then there was Pete Chiarelli of course. The worst I can rmember just have to be Ian Morgan and Chris Keward (the season he played on D). The most inept skaters you could imagine. I wrote about Chris of that season on D:- "He turned out for 43 games in 86/87 season, recording an assist and two pims, although how he got close enough to anybody to collect a penalty remains a mystery to me!." Boy was hockey a laugh occasionally in those far off days ;D Isn't it a matter of expectation? There's scores of Brits worse than Larter and Farley, but in those days if an import wasn't getting at least 4 points a game they weren't performing. How about Bruce Thompson as another suggestion?

Scandalous suggestion! He was immense, and if we'd had him a season earlier we wouldn't still be waiting to win the league - he was due to sign for us during 1994-5 (when Steve Butler was so poor) and we only lost the league in the last two weekends. Scotty only found himself out of his depth in the Superleague.

My vote also goes to Ian morgan, although greg burke was pretty poor too, biggest dissapointment whilst not the worst player was Scott Allison, he was superb for sheffield but as soon as he put on the black and gold he was rubbish
