Shamelessly nabbed from THF. Manchester and Nottingham playoffs have been fun but neither quite like Wembley! What are your memories of the place?
My first season was the year we won our one and only Championship and all I remember about the entire weekend was dancing on my seat after we'd been presented with the cup!
Dan Dorian getting a hat-trick in the semi final against Peterborough in 1992. I think we won the game 7-2 and I was really confident that we'd beat Durham the following day. Unfortunatley we lost by the odd goal in some insanely high scoring match.
There used to be Wembley Market on the Sunday morning and we'd always find a bargin or two. I remember one year my great-grandma buying tons and tons of wool there and knitting a giant red and yellow scarf in time for that day's final. It went all the way around her, my grandma, my dad and me!
The disappointment of losing 11-7 in the semi final to a team we'd walloped 19-2 earlier in the season.
One year we went to an American football match at Wembley Stadium while we were there. I've never been so bored in my entire life!
Losing to Sheffield 8-0 in the semi final and throwing all the stick we got back the following day as Cardiff demolished them 12-1.
The entire arena supporting us against the Steelers in 1996. Going 3-0 down and then pulling it back to 3-3 in the space of 90 seconds before losing on penalty shots. When we equalised I accidently punched the man next to me in the chin I was jumping up and down so much. I've never been so nervous as I was during the penalties I was absolutley gutted when we lost.
Of course, Wembley also had the best goal celebration music, ever!
