What's your favourite cup memories? Mine was the win against the Ayr Scottish Eagles at the Sheffield Arena in the B&H Cup Final 1998. Was a great night watching the BNL and the ISL. with super Pekka Virta getting 2 goals in the 2-1 victory. Worse. The worse i didnt like was the 4-0 loss against the Steelers in there arena in the Challenge Cup Final 1999.Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh

1989 Play-off win.Great.Corr,....would be nice to rectify the gap between then and now regards this tournament.
Worst....Any final loss when we could have tallied a nice silverware run INSTEAD of the Steelers amounting so much title accolade.THEN we could have been spouting....blast.

The best was beating the Storm against all the odds in the semi final of the B&H in '98 with 13 skaters at LPS...the best night of my life in the old stadium.
The worst was the Challenge Cup final at London Arena, disorganised, crap performance, the ridiculous confetti incident and losing to the Steelers. An all round miserable and wasted day, only one pub open and getting to the bar was impossible. Absolute disaster in every sense that match was.

I'd have to go for the Norwich Union Trophy win in 1986, bacause it was our first trophy in the modern era and it was the first time I experienced sudden-death overtime.

Best - my first season. 1989. Wasn't going to go to Wembley as all new to me. Then we got through the play offs for the first time, and I realised it might be a bit exciting and needed to get a ticket. But they'd all sold out. Then heard on Radio that the players' tickets (the club bought each player a ticket to go and watch, as we'd never got there to actually play!) were going on sale at the rink that night. Bombed back from Derby and was second in the queue. Got my ticket - but no hotel! Went there and back, there and back on the coach. Had, in my mind, the best seat in the place - back row, seat in the middle of the stairs - no-one in front, no-one behind so could stand up. And (best of all) could run down the stairs at the whistle and be first for a beer or a wee whichever was most urgent. ;D Couldn't believe that there were fans from every conceivable team in Wembley, and in the pubs, and milling round the streets - most having imbibed a drink or ten - and not one bit of trouble! Even rang my Dad to tell him how great hockey was compared to football! Can remember very little of the actual hockey (except Danny Shea knocking himself out on the crossbar) but WE WON!! Standing on my seat and raising my fist in salute, with Doc Durdle saluting me back!! (Well, I like to think he did - don't spoil my memory by saying he saluted you!) Waiting in the Cricks for the players to come back, meeting them in the rink car park, drink flowing, Jasp getting his shorts pulled down and his keks going with them... Everything was magic. I thought following Panthers would always be like that. Worst - choice of two. Travelling to Italy with the GB team in 1994, for Pool A of the World Championships, after losing by some ridiculous score (have blocked it out of my mind) to Steelers in the semi at Wembley and having the rip taken out of us by Steelers fans all fortnight. Or losing to Steelers in the Final at Wembley (forgotten which year) after pulling back from 3-0 down to level in about 90 seconds, then losing on penalties. Crying uncontrollably in the corridor, and a female Peterborough fan coming up and giving me a big hug saying "no-one deserves to lose that way". I got so horribly, horribly drunk on Thunderbird that the coach had to stop at services for me to throw up and I think I passed out with my head in the toilet bowl... Sorry for the delay to everyone on the coach.

Aside from winning the Championship at Wembley in 1989, FINALLY defeating the Steelers in a final after so many years of defeat and misery against them on their own ice in 2004 was fantastic. ;D All of the Autumn Cup wins were great, paticularly the 7-2 win over Cardiff, but to finally win a trophy at 'their' expence beat them all!! Worst - The aforementioned 4-0 drubbing at 'their' rink.

All of our cup final or semi-final wins were the best.
Top 3: 1989 championship win at Wembley. No contest.
1986 Norwich Union cup win at the NEC. Our first trophy win. I was 13. It was quite a while before my birthday, but my parents went out in the afternoon and got my present just in case we lost and I needed cheering up! We won the final but I got the present anyway the next day.
2004 Challenge Cup win in Sheffield Arena. Finally laying to rest the Steelers hoodoo and winning silverware on their ice. Sweet.
Worst was probably the 4-0 defeat in Sheffield when we just did not turn up. The 2-1 playoff final defeat to Cardiff the same season was also tough to swallow, as I really believed we would go all the way that year.

My favourite memories...I think there's too many to list, but the one thing that still stays with me, even though it no longer exists, is the old ice stadium. I remember getting my tickets, walking up the various levels of stairs, and then up the final stairs and you were in the arena itself. Usually by the time my Dad & I had got our tickets, the players were doing their warm up. It still remains a vivid memory, walking up the steps and being confronted by the sight of hockey players skating around. I still find it sad that LPS is gone

Oh yes that 1999 cup final defeat of 0-4 was pretty badm made worse as it was Don Mckees side shortly before he got the bullet beleive, 4-0 down inside the fist 15 odd minutes The best id say was the b&h cup semi in 98 against the storm, and the 96 and 98 finals. and of cause more recently the 2004 cc final and finally getting one over on them

I remember that. it was my 2nd season watching and my first final. Remember getting hold of 4 tickets and then someone dropping out at last minute so only 3 of us went I think. Got there pretty late and couldn't find anywhere to park so we decided to just leave the car on some yellow lines on a wearhouse and agreed we'd share the parking ticket if we got one! Managed to make it into the arena just as the national anthem was playing and got to our seats just as it ended. Can't remember much of the game other than we played poor and was soon 3-0 down. Made a bit of a fight back to get it back to 3-2 but we never looked like getting the equaliser. And for those that are bothered we got lucky and didn't get a parking ticket!

Wasn't that the final where Panthers put spin on it, claiming " It was almost like we'd won."

favourite game has to be when we beat Ayr in the final at wembley!! awesome... prob the most upset i have been is at the last wembley when we were losing to the steelers 3, 0 and managed to score 3 goals in 90 seconds to even it up...and then losing in penalty shots! never forget the atmosphere...everyone wearing yellow marigolds (i realised i was allergic to them the next day) and all the other teams fans wearing them in support for us too...it was very emotional.

My best memory was when we won the challenge cup a couple of years ago. My family were all sitting in the room listening to the radio then we heard chris ellis screaming his heart out when we scored lol
