We have had a number 11 on the ice for nearly every season since 1980.
First custodian was Dwayne Keward, manager's son and a pretty handy player. When he took a sabbatical in 1985, in stepped (fanfare please) The Legend That Was Jimmy Keyes. I think Jim is still my favourite Panthers player: gritty and highly competitive on the ice, an absolute gentleman off it. What a guy. Was it really only two seasons that he spent here?
Matt Trickett took the number on for a number of seasons but quit the sport, a terrible waste of a talented young player.
Then Greg Hadden came along and spent several seasons bagging goals and winning face offs with such success that when he left the shirt was retired in his honour.
1980/81 Dwayne Keward 1981/82 Dwayne Keward 1982/83 Dwayne Keward 1983/84 Dwayne Keward 1984/85 Dwayne Keward 1985/86 Jim Keyes 1986/87 Jim Keyes 1987/88 Dave Ducharme, Mike Jeffrey 1988/89 Dwayne Keward, John Flavill 1989/90 Dwayne Keward, Matt Trickett 1990/91 Matt Trickett 1991/92 Matt Trickett, Marc Twaite 1992/93 Matt Trickett 1993/94 Matt Trickett 1994/95 Matt Trickett 1996/97 Matt Trickett, Jason Jennings 1997/98 Greg Hadden 1998/99 Greg Hadden 1999/00 Greg Hadden 2000/01 Greg Hadden 2001/02 Greg Hadden 2002/03 Greg Hadden

Trickett was a very good player from what I remember of him, especially when he became a defenseman

Or as Texpef and Mark insist...Greg Hadden, the only player in Panthers history to have had Jim Keyes shirt retired for him!

This number is very special to me. Trickett gave me a Teddy once, and Hadden is my all-time favourite player!!
