Not too many have worn this number for Panthers. Infact it wasn't until 1985/6 that we first had one, which was unusual for the time.
Main custodian first.
1985/86 - Brian Cox, Matt Boultby 1986/87 - Brian Cox, Matt Boultby, Mark Steeples 1987/88 - Brian Cox 1994/95 - Brian Cox 1995/96 - Brian Cox 1996/97 - Brian Cox 1999/00 - Jordan Willis 2000/01 - Jordan Willis, Alan Levers 2002/03 - Mika Pietila 2003/04 - Niklas Sundberg
Thoughts/memories/glaring errors welcome.

Got a good story about Brian Cox.
One night we were playing Streatham here and there was a big fight involving every player on the ice. Coxy paired off with their goalie, the very competitive Gary Brine, and in the course of the struggle sustained several bites from his opponent.
So the next game against Redskins, which was down there, we got a big box of ice lolly sticks and made loads of crosses which we waved at Briney whenever he looked our way. Entering into the spirit, Coxy painted a big white cross on his blocker and spent the game brandishing it the whole length of the ice at Brine.
It worked. We won, something we didn’t do too often at Streatham.

Funny how I haven't heard that name in years, but can still remember him 10+ years on...

Alexei Kuznetsov...there's a name.
I remember watching him on one of my visits to Chelmsford to watch the Chieftains and he was tearing the league up at that level...he stood out like a sore thumb that night although I don't remember his points return from the night (all I do remember about that trip was Perry Doyle getting chucked out, no surprise there, and then going completely psycho fighting fans all the way back to the dressing room!).
Kuznetsov was a tasty player.

Alexei lived with my girlfriends parents when he played for Chelmsford and by the sounds of it a very nice bloke who played in plastic skates.

Good goalie, who in my mid, was unfairly persecuted during his stint with us I'll agree on that I liked him, also helped us win the challenge cup! I liked him too, disturbs me that he wouldn't even go for a drink in T&D because of what people were saying about him. Good way to blow the confidence of your starting netminder

If I remember rightly, Jordan Willis got into a few scuffles while he wore our number 1. There was the infamous bench clearance and at least 2 others I remember.
As for Sundberg, I liked him. I felt he was a little weak on the glove side, but he was awesome with the blocker. I personally don't think there's much to pick between him and Cruickshank, although I'd put Sunni slightly ahead as he did help us win the challenge cup. Granted CC has been good for us, but it was Kudrna that got us through the playoffs last season and this year we didnt make the finals. The jury is out but if i'm judge then Sunni is better.

Actually Martin Jordan didn't fight in the bench clearance...Mike Torchia wiped Mike O'Neill's ass all over the ice and then Willie took over after Torchy was thrown out and backstopped us to recovering to win the game! He did have a great fight with Mikko Koivonouro though in the first ever game at the NIC, Willie looked tiny throwing punches at a man almost two feet taller than him! Have to disagree about Sunny and Cruicker, CC's stats tell the story for me but that's a whole different story!

Mike Torchia wiped Mike O'Neill's ass all over the ice O'Neill never stood a chance when he was fighting our three goalkeepers - Owen, Mac and Ernie

*shakes head*
It must be late...what had me saying Torchia when he's never played for Panthers? Idiot.
Yep too right Baz...when you're fighting the 3 of them you don't stand a chance. Eoin McInerney.
I should go to bed before I say something else stupid.

BRIAN COX: Effective if unorthodox. He saved shots with every bit of his anatomy at some stage. Had some terrific games mind you, and was one of the shut-out leaders of the old Heineken league. Also notable for his pugilistic tendencies - the Gary Brine incident most of all. But he also got banned from the ice stadium for a fight in the bar before a midweek training session. This meant that he could only play in away games for the remainder of that season but the club kept him on.
JORDAN WILLIS: Slight of build, a quiet and unassuming character off the ice, but fairly intense on it. Like Coxy, didn't shy away from the physical aspects of the game. Got thrown out in the very first match at the NIC for fighting with an outskater (Mikko Koivonouro of all people) - a netminder fighting an outskater is always a great sight to behold in my opinion - and only Mike Torchia shepherding him into the corner prevented him getting involved in the bench clearance. Bet Torchy wishes he hadn't bothered - if both our goalies had been ejected, the game would have been abandoned. As it turned out, Willis played a blinder, Torchy had a nightmare and we came back to win. Willis was inconsistent, but he put in one of the best displays I have seen from a Panthers netminder - his 40-odd shot shut out against that year's league champions Bracknell in 99-00 in a 4-0 win where the Bees frankly murdered us.

Sorry Ian, not doubting you but a rules question.
I had heard that if a team was reduced to 0 goalies that an outskater would have 10 minutes to get changed into goalie gear. Is that only with injuries and not include penalties. Or is it different if both teams lose their netties?
Anyone?

I was under the impression that if a team had no netminders, the game would be abandoned but I may be wrong on that score. In any case, just because something is in the rules, it doesn't mean the refs will implement it so who knows what might have happened. Whatever, by preventing Jordan from wading into the fighting Torchia played a big part in us eventually winning the game.
