Not necessarily, as when it comes to giving Crosby & Co new contracts, you're assuming that they'll immediately want out of Pittsburgh. Pidge made reference to a ludicrous contract that the Wings committed too with Fedorov, but that isn't going to happen in the era of salary cap. Even if he does opt to not sign a new deal with the team, trading Croby will bring a mass of talent to the Pens, more than the Nords got with the trade of Lindros. The amount they will demand will make sure that they won't be able to stay in Pittsburgh or wherever they may be playing. Sure, trading Crosby would bring in an incredible return, as would trading Ovechkin. They will struggle to keep all three together for longer than a couple of years unless they really scrape the rest of the team together and with them looking to re-sign Giguere again apparently, i can't see it. What on earth are you talking about, Giguere doesn't even play for Pittsburgh.

How can you compare the contract of Fleury ($2.59m over 2 years) to Giguere's $19.5 million over four?

When i was typing, i had a Flyers podcast mentioning Giguere as a possible target and wasn't thinking. It happens to us all Shin, calm down.

Indeed, he's showing the signs that he'll be a very good goalie for the Penguins. Maybe the Flyers & Leafs will draft someone with similar talent this year...?

Why break the tradition? of getting draft picks then just trade them away and expecting instant success! Two or Three years of punishment wouldn't do the Leaf's or the Flyers any harm while they get some some new blood.

He's a waste of space & the only thing he's done with any manner of success is getting Dave Keon to bury his feud with the organisation. Lots of Toronto fans want the club to go one of two ways, either re-build or make a genuine effort to rectify the problems with the team (scoring winger & a consistent goalie.) They wont, and are being wishy-washy in the attitude.

And the play Sawchuk. Toronto are on HNIC every week and they frustrate the hell out of me to watch. Like you say, I wish they would do one thing or the other. I never get the impression they as a club seriously want to win. They are, as you say, wishy-washy. Lucky for them Tucker has been out lately. He threatened to make them more dangerous. I also like the look of Maurice as coach. Are the Leafs getting some ambition?

Although having agreed with you post initially, I can't say I agree with the above assesment. Toronto haven't received any "punishment" this year & aren't having the season the Flyers are, so coupling the two teams in the same bracket is silly.

Career year before the foot injury but it's reported he's looking for $5m a season while the Leafs have offered $4m. Both sums are stupid as the majority of his points have come from tipping shots in on the PP and his +/- is woeful. Bye bye Darcy, and don't let the door hit your arse on the way out. As for HNIC, we've not been good for the last month when playing on Saturdays, but the win against the Habs was a good showing as were the displays against Carolina & NYR last night. We're finally getting goaltending from Raycroft on a consistent level.

Maybe to Winnipeg? I for one would love to see the Winnipeg Jets return. Sheds a tear for the once proud Jets.
