Add another definately to the list!
So you don't go into your meeting and receive any nasty surprises probably worth mentioning that, according to people I've spoken too, part of the reason the avalanche finished was because the arena firstly put up the price then wanted the avalanche organisers to enter into a formal agreement and guarantee payment which they obviously weren't willing to do!
Assuming you haven't already I would suggest you think about how you will take payment from people, either collect cash on the night, (as avalanche did), take payment in advance for blocks of say 6 weeks, (maybe even weight it so a block of 6 would cover costs perhaps £45, but allow people to pay for a single session say £10), or even setup direct debits / standing orders.
A couple of quid joining fee may be an idea too, cover the cost of all them pucks that will need to be bought!
I guess this may sound a bit over the top to some folks but you are obviously going to get weeks where 25 - 26 people turn up and others when 15 - 16 turn up, if your going to have to guarantee a payment I think I would insist on people showing some kind of commitment too!

I agree with your point about getting folk to show some commitment puckhead.
Having family that live away there will be times when I cant turn out, so the option of a block booking and single sessions would suit me with the flexibility.
Being completely new to this, I need to ask if we all need to register as players to be insured and how do we go about it?

I have created a yahoo mailing group so we can organise things a bit more formally. uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/nottinghampredators/Join the group and to post a message simply send a mail to nottinghampredators@yahoogroups.co.uk I agree about maybe a small joining fee to get us started with a load of pucks. I will see what the NIC say on Wed regards payment terms and will post the info on the mailing group. Decided on the Predators, hope everyone likes it!

Predators is an excellent name. Nashville Predators Orlando Predators Artistic flare can run wild with this name, most things are a predator to something, maybe a Robin snaring an earth worm How about "The Predator" with a hockey stick.

I've just noticed on the NIC schedule that they have "Adult Hockey Clinic" down for 4 sessions spread over the 5th - 6th May, anybody know any more details about this?
Surely they're not offering a training session for people who are never going to progress beyond recreational play!?

I'm booked on.. but when I booked a month ago we were told there were only 6 places left, so it may be full by now??? Might be worth calling NIC to find out....?

I can't wait, I've not been on one before & it took several people a looong time to convince me to join this one! For some crazy reason I thought it would be a good idea to book tickets to go to Oulton Park for the British SuperBikes on the Monday - not sure I'll be up to walking around a race track...lol If it goes well I'm gonna give the womens pre season conditioning clinic a go, which I hear is even tougher!!

Predators are already a rec team a similar standard to yourselves who play out of Peterborough :S Don't forget about Newcastle Predators too! I can see where your going with that but I really don't think it matters! Look at the number of teams called Vipers, Newcastle, Nottingham, Solihull, Flintshire. I could name you 3 teams in the UK called Panthers!

After speaking to Mike Urquhart tonight, all players need to be registered with the EIHA which costs around £35 this insures you for the year and the NIC wont let you on the ice without this.
Mike said the best way to do this is to send all the players cheques off at once so its all sorted at the same time. Possibly meet up in town for a few beers or something to sort this?
We need a level 2 coach and a photocopy of his certificate (guys from ice tigers?)
We need a qualified first aider and a photocopy of his certificate.
The cost of hire is £158 per hour, there are loads of summer slots available but cant guarantee winter slots. Sunday or Monday nights were mentioned as being available to us.
Payment is for ice time is required one week in advance for new teams.
I am in the process of registering the team with the EIHA and will receive all the forms shortly.
