Just called the NIC
The cost is around £150 per hour which is a nice suprise. But.... She said that there is no available ice time at the moment at all. But says it becomes available all the time. I have to mail her with the days and times we are interested in. Anyone got any preference?
Bad news is we do definatley have to have a level 2 coach, regardless whether everyone is over 18. Anyone know anyone that would be interested?

you don't need a level 2 coach at all
don't think you need any coach at all if over 18

Can't help with the coach (but will ask around.) As for Ice time, evenings and weekends are good and I'm not especially fussed how late/early it is. I think novice ice time around the world tends to be restricted to ungodly hours - just something we will have to come to terms with....

Seems like a sensible suggestion - and some of the Ashfield guys might make some extra numbers (they had a couple of level 2 Coaches I think!)

most you'll need is a level 1 coach as far as i'm aware, which you'll almost certainly be a couple down
sunay nights are taken by recreational dancing aparently

maybe we could get chummy with the northstars main fellas and some how tie it up in a way, a northstars farm team hahahahahahahaha! but some of their older more experienced players would probably be up for coaching.
im deffo up for this any night of the week execpt monday due to northstars allready on that day

Nottingham Outlaws Nottingham Nighthawks Sherwood Sheriffs In all seriousness about being a 'farm team' lol, it would help us guys get some decent guys to coach us. And if anyone got to a stage where they wanted to play serious hockey they move up to the northstars, vice versa with guys they get going training who arent quite up to scratch to train with them. As for the name, i like the outlaws

I think evo makes an extremely good point with regards something along the lines of a farm team to the Northstars.
However has anyone considered approaching the Northstars to suggest adding a second Northstars session per week, but with the emphasis on training. Currently the Northstars spend 10 minutes warming up then spend an hour playing a game, this works well for them because most of them have been playing hockey since they were little. If this "second session" were more biased towards newbs and instruction than game playing it would certainly help the likes of myself to improve who have never been for formal training.
At the very least it would be worth talking with the Northstars organisers, since they've been through the setting up a rec team process before.

Sounds like a good idea Puckead - does anyone had a contact at the Northstars?

the main body of the northstars are not interested in training, they like their set up the way it is and the main gaffer said that to me at the start. but yeah evo thats what i was thinking not so much taking the newbies away from their monday night session but to give us a extra session with more training and scrimaging at our own level to help improve our skills. us lot should go on monday nights too if we feel we can manage, its fast paced and helps you work harder and improve skills in a different way.
I dont think making our thing an actual northstars 2nd session would work, we should be seperate, different name. But still operating and working with the northstars. once we get an idea of when our session might be i could ask around the locker room if anyone would be up for coaching or helping out with training in anyway. i recon someone will. i like the Sherwood Sheriffs idea haha!

i was told there was some at about 3am You joking. I don't think I will be playing after Midnight, I draw the line there. Even if it is in Nottingham. I would be best for me if we avoid the weekends also, but I guess if this is being setup to run after the season has finished, I guess that would be fine. Fridays are my only no-go day.

Fair enough, if the majority wanna go for that then that's cool. But I will be dropping out if that's the case.
I start work at 7:30 in the morning and with having a family to spend time with, it's not gonna happen.
I would rather commute back to forth from Sheffield and play at 1815 on a Sunday night that do that. Like you say Ted, not that deperate to play in Nottingham.
Let's hope they come up with something more reasonable.
