as long as you are on a course worth 40 credits or more i believe.
"If you are a student at Nottingham Trent University, The University of Nottingham, Loughbourgh University, Lincon University or a College in Nottingham, enrolled on a course worth 40 credits or more, then you do qualify to play BUIHA hockey for the Club.
The Club accept players of all abilities wether it be total beginners to National Level Players. Due to the vast number of teams we are able to accept the wide verity of players and you will be able to perform with players of your own ability. "

yeah northstars is on tonight as always, though it is NOT on next monday as it is bank holiday. The standard is a mix, its generally fast paced but dont be scared off if you like myself are a newbie. theres a good handfull of us that are blatant newbies. its all about comming down giving it ago. you'll get used to the pace. come down some time Hi JB - I came to watch on Monday and a lot of the guys were the same guys from the old Sunday night, so I will definitely be coming down, probably starting the week after next!

Hey Killercarson - I think I might have spoken to you re the Northstars on Monday night, were you the bloke that told me I needed to talk the Chirs (I was the bloke in glasses with his girlfriend)? Spoke with one of the guys down there (wasn't Chris, think it was Lee). I'm getting all my kit and going down next week.
One thing to bear in mind is the week after next is a bank holiday so they won't be training.

Hey Oldy, I live the opposite end of Long Eaton, just off of Station Road. I'm 26, originally from Chilwell but moved to Long Eaton 7 years ago. Are you still in Long Eaton?

Good point about the bank holiday, so I guess I will be down the week after that. See you there. (I am originally a Long Eaton lad also, but live in Hucknall now.)

We didn't stay and watch for too long - only about 10 mins. There seems to be a bit of a Long Eaton theme going on here I think

Yeah, was good fun. Didn't really get anywhere near the puck and I had no real clue what I was doing. Some how I got a massive bruise on my leg, which was strange as no one hit into me and I didn't fall over at all.
I met puckhead as I was on the same team and he was giving me a few pointers. Mentioned about the team that Evo is trying to set up and want to know whats happening with it?
I also met Michael-Hiver (sp) off of here on Thursday night at the general session and he was saying he is still interested in this new team. Evo if you read this is there any update at all, I haven't seen anything on here or the yahoo group recently.

there are issues about getting a level 2 coach to be on the ice with us at the same time. stupid NIC rules. tbh i dont think anyone else who has ice time has level 2 coaches on the ice thought apart from maybe under 18's.
oh i should be down on the Monday night coming up. haven't played in ages.

Hi Stek. I didn't realise that Warwick have an Ice Hockey team. I actually work in Warwick (Nice long commute every day ). Tonight isn't actually anything to do with this team being setup (although quite a few of the guys here are involved) its actually for the Nottingham Northstars. I have only literally started up myself with the Northstars and just turned up on the night, so I wouldn't have thought you turning up will be a problem, however I did have to register to be able to play, which involved a £40 registration fee (until September when registrations need to be renewed for the year), £7.50 on the night, photo copy of some ID and 2 passport photos. I don't know if this will be the same for you if you already registered with another team. Maybe someone else on here can answer that for you?

jms... Warwick Panthers is the university team, so it isn't open to everyone I'm afraid. Normally registration works like this. Once you are registered for a team, this normally covers you to train with other clubs, since you have insurance. However, if you want to play in a game, then you must pay an additional fee of £20 (I think) which is the admin fee. However, since stek will no longer be playing for Warwick Panthers this season, unless they have any challenge games, it may be adviseable to "transfer" your licence to the Northstars for a nil fee. You will need a transfer form from the rec section site, and get both teams to sign it. What I've said about training is kinda unofficial. However, when I've spoken to people about insurance its always "well you have purchased insurance, so it doesn't matter who you train with". One thing I will say, and we are being very strict with the uni teams... if one person on the ice doesn't have insurance, no one on the ice is insured. Also the level 2 thing is important, and whilst rec hockey doesn't require it, its best practice to have one anyways. It may seem a silly rule, but why would you not have one? You'll find details of Level 1 and Level 2 courses on www.buiha.org.uk/forum and I believe there are still loads of places available on each course. Any other questions, please let me know. Cheers, Rach

yeah the season has ended with the warwick panthers even training, and i am back home looking for a team for the summer or for a bit, cause the sport is amazing! I am not that bothered in playing in any games for the northstars really. I think it might be best to turn up and see what people say, as rach says it is kinda unoffical. I also can't train with my old youth team, cause its different insurance right ?! :S
What are the times and whats the skill level at the training?

I also can't train with my old youth team, cause its different insurance right ?! :S I would ask the coach of the youth team as there could be H&S implications, he/she has the final say. It wouldn't hurt, would it? Remember after 1 August the new EIHA rules are enforced. As for the insurance being different, I don't think that holds much of a barrier. Women play with juniors under the same licence and I'm trying to get the womens licence accepted into uni hockey.

What are the times and whats the skill level at the training? Ice time starts at 10:30, however people start turning up about 9:30. It consists of a 10 min warm up and then a match. The skill level starts from a few novices (but not as bad as me ) and goes up to some really very very good players. So really anyone can fit in.
