Does anyone know what stick tape is also used for? Because if it has another use maybe we can get some at a cheaper price than it is sold at the hockey shops around the uk.(usually around £2.50)

pretty sure it doesn't have another use can't think what it would be used for other than to make your stick blade more grippy think you can get these patch things that last longer than tape don't know how much they cost though

I know a way to get it cheaper.... ... Borrow it off everybody else in your team Same goes for shower gel and leg-tape... Of course, its much easier to 'borrow' if you are the biggest/hairiest in your team

Stick tape isn't used to make the blade grippy! The reson people put stick tape on their blades is to either disguise the puck(black tape) or to disguise the blade(white). This is due to the puck being black and the ice being white!!

no thats just so what either forwards or defenceman do
eg defencman usally use white tapes so the attackers can't see there stick so clearly, and forwards tend to use black tape to hide the puck so the goalie can't pick the puck out so well against the stick when shooting.
although that is really a bag of crap as most people don't take any notice of that and just use what they prefer.
plus stick tape does make the stick a hell of a lot gripper for the puck plus it also holds the stick blade together longer ( its last longer usally )

However if you have a decent blade you won't need tape to hold it together. Also why you think players have black shorts and some players spray the bottom of their sticks black (Marek Ivan), this is to disguise the puck. As the majority of the time Marek Ivan stands infront of the N/M, to block his view of the puck etc...

Got to agree with Jag7 here. Known him for a while now and he has some serious hockey knowledge.

you could have the best stick blade in the world but it will always break up quicker with out tape on
and as i said it is to help hide the puck or the stick but on the whole stick tape is for giving extra grip for stick handling,
also if they didn't use it for extra grip for the puck why don't tehy just forget about tape or those strip things you can get?? ( you know those strip things that replace tape to help the puck stick to your blade but still allow it to move quickly over teh ice)

Loads of players who play for Great Britain and Midlands, like myself just place a strip along the bottom of the blade for both ice and roller. As you dont need the blade to be grippy.

but why but that one strip there at all???
you said you don't need tape except for disquising the puck??? and that one peice of tape won't do it

They should come up with a way to make stick blades with grip already on them. It will save us all a lot of money

You put a strip along the bottom to stop your blade getting ruined. My sticks are sprayed black at the bottom neway so the puck is disguised. OO i get my stick tape from the panthers kit man, so get it free neway.
