Hi guys, Follow this link to the generic letter touting for sponsorship ... Copy & Paste and add your own contact details and get mailing it to any contacts you may have that could be in a position to help.

What do the sponsors really get out of it? as people might want to know, as from what i can see they won't get alot if anything from sponsoring the team??

Well what more can they get apart from advertising? could say the same thing about every team that has sponsorship ;D

but they don't really get advertiseing do they?
as how many people are going to be watching?, how many radio stations are we going to be on and how many lunch time news thingsys are we going to be on??
they will be paying money but only getting about 30 people seeing it and those are all players LOL

It would be nice just to have the backing of a sponsor so we can get extra funding for the team. the sponsor might not get much out of it, but as stated in the letter, their name/company name will be in the programme and we will be representing the sponsor where ever we play or appear. its does help tim if the players back the idea instead of a minority going against the development of our team! thanks, tomo

i didn't say i didn't back it
but you have to give them answers if you want them to sponsor you and small companys are not going to sponsor a REC Team for a few hundred pounds if just a couple of people see it.
Thats why my dad wouldn't sponsor it, because why would you just chuck money down the drain?.

Meh .... companies get their names seen .... it's all good PR.
My little brother plays for a rec team much like ours .... they have a main team sponsor who like to be seen putting money back into the community especially through sport .... many large companies have a designated budget for this sort of thing ....
Who sponsors my brother's team? British Aerospace. Of course they're not trying to sell fighter jets to someone at his games, it's good PR that's all.

Yep what Bj Said. And to give you another aspect look at it this way... Tonight iv worn my Stix shirt(the sheffield team I play for),Many people have seen it and commented on it.
So.. We get 30people wearing their shirts at games, people see us,BAM you got exposure to 7000 people. You walk into town.Again everyone notices.Exposure=Endless.
Then of course the goodwill.Putting money into the community as were a rec team. Most teams have sponsors Tim,If I had my own business Id definatly consider it and thats no bull! Another thing is staff and customers.U ever been to Doff Garden products at hucknall? You walk in theyve got panthers and Forest shirts in big frames on the wall where theyve sponsored them+team photos and signed merchandise.Customers walk in-Impressed,Staff walk in-impressed!
And thats just scratching the surface!

yeah i see why people will do it now
but a reason why my dad won't sponsor it ethier is because he doesn't need anymore jobs now, he has big contract etc (plus he might be selling up in a few years time) so it would be sort of a waste of money for him plus it would really look good on the shirt

I suppose small companies with low budgets wouldnt do it, but if theres a company thats doing good and can spare some money for sponsorship then its good for them. I guarentee that each time someone hears or see's GMB they think of the panthers.

Another thing is geographical coverage. Weve got people from nottm, sheffield, doncaster, derby, lincoln etc so youve got exposure to a large area. Fair enough about your dad.Another reason tho,Imagne your in charge of getting cleaners in for the company you work for... You go into town or to a match, see the shirt, you think ideal il give them a call. You might think its a bit farfetched but youd be very surprised!

i just think that you need to change the letter slightly putting things like what you have just said into it so that they can see the benifits if they couldn't before

Thats fine mate ... you're the boss.
Tim's points are valid, my thought processes behind the original way the letter was written was to make initial contact, during the follow up then the advantages can be discussed along with what would be involved. However, there does now seem to be a case to make that first contact a little more persuasive so I'm happy to see the letter edited. Brainstorming like this helps.
(I have already sent some letters though!)

Great stuff!Im happy with that! Get sending people!Doesnt have to be major, theres loads of opportunities available.I reckon we can have 2 main sponsors and then theres little things like Helmet sponsors(get stickers made up) and minor sponsors(badges on shoulders etc)

what about sock sponsors as well
get a little logo printed or sewn on to them.
so that is like 4-or 5 sponsor that we(you) could have Rich
Now what obscure companies can i think of LOL
