Anyone venture to the Pumpkins gig last night? probably not as that was the least attended gig ive seen at the stadium really empty, although it was the best performance ive seen in the arena for a few weeks Girlfriend made a joke which really back fired, as we were waiting for the encore she said wouldn't it be funny if at a gig the fans stood waiting and clapping for 10min's, then the lights came on and an announcement was made saying that was the end of the show! guess what happened! At least the pumpkins sounded good when they were on stage! i was meant to go, got free tickets for a box. im glad i didnt, the pumpkins are renowned for being toilet live (hold your horses, dont go whining yet, i didnt say they were last night) and i heard that corgan was acting like a total diva. out of the people who went in my place, all 4 were disappointed.

Thought they sounded OK. Was pretty disappointed with how early they finished! They were already on when we got there. What time did they start?
I approve of not doing an encore in principle. I think too many bands use them as an ego boost. I'd rather they just played through then walked off a few mins earlier, or better still - played an extra song instead of standing behind the curtain basking in the chanting and applause for their greatness. You'd think they could at least thank the crowd for attending/announce that it was the last song or something though.

They (Smashing Pumpkins) were OK live, I liked how they've rearranged Adore, and various other songs, although the Pumpkins hardly got the crowd going. Jimmy Chamberlin is one beastly drummer.

What time did they start? about 8.15 i think. Apparently from what ive heard, they were supposed to come back and do 30mins more but due to the size of the crowd and how we didnt 'get into it enough' they decided not to come back on. Ruddy Rock Diva's!

Pumpkins are renowned for starting gigs early, they were onstage at 8.25 and went off at 10 - so 1 hr 35 mins isn't too bad. (If you think that normally that would be 9-10.35pm, then another 10 mins before the encore is over and done with).
I don't blame Corgan and co for not coming back for an encore - the crowd were flatter than a left over pancake and I've never seen the arena so empty - there were more there for NIN last year!
Apparently the first night of the tour (2 nights before) they did a 3 hour set in Scotland.
Personally I enjoyed the gig (def more than Billy Corgan did!) and thought they sounded good (despite the rubbish Arena acoustics).

As far as cover versions go this rocks - Mia Permanto - IronicI must finally step out of the closet and confess to having a bit of a Finnish Fetish at the moment.

you going tonight then psylence?
unfortunately i might not be able to make it if i dont get my assignment done, but the gig is relatively cheap, well worth your money already. last time they play the basement in rock city, i sang 'not promised tomorrow' with bonz. pure awesomeness.

you fans of downset by any chance? aside from the MLK intro, sounds very fear factory-ish. harmonised vocal then a grunt. not too bad, just not my cup of tea youth.
how come your lot packed up?

not particuarly fans of Down set, i've listened to them, wouldn't site them as an influence though.
We packed up as our priorites shifted, basically in a nutshell after we got signed to Copro records we toured our Buts off in support of our album, and put 2 years of our lives into it, then our guitarist became a father, i got a new (more time demanding) job and the drummer moved to peterborough, so we couldn't dedicate the time to it that was required to keep at the level we had reached. so we called it a day....to quote a fellow musician we'd rather "Burn out rather than fade away"

fair play youth. you have much of a fanbase? i like to think i was tuned into the notts scene a few years ago, and had heard of your name (i made the connection once you spelled it out for me).
oh and after listening to all your myspace tracks, its only that one (with the MLK intro) i'd associate with fear factory! i did however like the scratching!

our fan base seemed pretty strong n loyal, we filled rock city basement a few times, manchester satans hollow, glasgow cat house, n headlined london underworld, we played most of the well known venues in the uk on various tours and had some high profile support slots at its peak. hed pe, pitchshifter, stuck mojo, panic cell, american head charge, gu medicine, kill 2 this, breed 77, to name a few,.....everyone makes the fear factory comparison on "equality"
