Doubt the NHL'ers will go to other clubs in North America as they also pay very small wages. Many will play in Europe though, Jagr has already got a deal for one of the Moscow teams, other players such as Forsberg are also rumored to be going to Europe.

If I know N.Americans (and I think I do ... worked with loads and rlated to more) ... if they're going to do this and take a wage cut .... effectively a 'year out' it'll be in Europe exploring their roots ...
Saying that though .... I really cant see a Brit club getting an NHLer, if this 'strike' happens .... it wont last long.

Also 'heard' .... Adey will build the team from the back, N/M and D to be signed before forwards ... That's the way too do it. Good news if we get a good defense sorted out first.

Had a rapid scan of the subject and first few replies, then skipped to the final page to respond.....apologies if anyone has mentioned this already I recall the 'Sheffield Star' (maybe 4/5 years ago) saying that the Steelers were atempting to sign Pavel Bure, when he was locked in contract dispute between (IIRC) Vancouver and Washington. Dave Simms said, "we should very much like to borrow him". Nothing came of it (surprised anyone?), and I can see (with regard to the Elite League) much the same happening again. If the NHL-ers DO come to Europe 'to explore their roots', I can see the wealthier end of the DEL cleaning up here. And if the EL has the same refereeing reputation as the ISL attracted:- ...ie "very poor" and "Trumbleys going to get his"..(from former players, both now retired) ...then that that won't do us any favours will it?. Did someone say Dody Wood? ...NO THANKS also...106 games in 'the show' or no But if you said Jason Clarke? ...that could be different (when Quebec have hired 'Microsoft' to calculate his Penalty Minutes, of course ) ..we'd still need someone who can fight though ;D TROY CROWDER

The strike could have a big impact on us, indirectly.
Whilst I doubt any of the NHLers will come here, the current DEL players will be looking to sign for teams in the UK since they are likely to be forced out. Hence, we are likely to get some better players signing here early rather than waiting around and then finding themselves forced out by the NHL players.
I've heard a few names of players who have contacted the club and they fit in with this theory. Sign up here with a nice safe decent wage rather than risk it with the NHL strikers coming over.

you kniow that they don't always drive around in smart cars i've seen caddy and taubert in a really decent car a couple of months ago having a laugh at somthing plus most NHL'er will probably go to teams in north america and other big clubs in europe and we will get the players that got booted out of those clubs to make room I saw Caddy and Taubert running around in a fiat punto the other month - can't imagine Taubert in a smart car - hahahahahaha

Its already been mentioned that Caddy wants to come back, so this is nothing new, but just to add to it... Talked to him today, when i said bye he replied "See you next season...hopefully!"

Not all will play in Europe, like you said some will, but the majority will no doubt stay in North America & simply keep themselves in shape. It'll be the same as 1994-95

I saw that a while ago in the powerplay think they where going to call them the Dublin Druids. Personaly I think it would be good for the sport in Ireland it could potentially attract big crowds if a rivarly with Belfast was created. Also on that note isn't there ment to be a return of a team in brighton (can't remember exactly what they were called) about the 2007/8 season?

What is the state of play in Dublin?
I thought the government there had decided not to fund the building of the new arena where the Dublin team was to play?

Think they look great, but wouldn't like to be involved in a crash in one!
Not very convenient for taxi-ing multiple juniors!
