COACH ELLIS ANNOUNCES HIS FIRST SIGNINGS
The GMB Nottingham Panthers are pleased to announce that new coach Mike Ellis’ recruitment drive has delivered its first signings of the summer. And there are four of them!
Joining the GMB Panthers for the upcoming 2006-7 season will be two of last season’s play-off championship winning team at Newcastle, MATUS PETRICKO and JAN KRAJICEK.
Also wearing the black and gold next season will be British international blueliner DANNY MEYERS, who played for Ellis in Bracknell.
And coming back for another season with the Nottingham club will be back-up netminder and top British prospect GEOFF WOOLHOUSE.
Said Mike Ellis : “I’m really pleased with all four signings. Each of these guys fits the criteria I am looking for as we try to build a winning formula for the fans. “I know Matus from his time with me in Bracknell, he was an impact player in the Elite League last season. He’s not afraid to get stuck in, he knows where the net is and he is a competitor each and every shift. “Jan is a big strong defenceman who played a major part in the Vipers’ success last season. We’re looking for more of the same. I played against him when he was at Edinburgh and he makes life difficult for opponents every time he is on the ice. “Geoff Woolhouse is well known to the fans in Nottingham. He is popular in the locker room and he wants to get better and better. Icetime for back-up netminders is difficult to come by but we know we can count on Geoff if needs be. We will also be organising some specialist training for him and I am thrilled he has decided to stay with the club in the face of interest from other teams. “Danny and I go back a few years. He has won three championship medals with me in Bracknell and he was named British defenceman of the year just a couple of seasons ago with the Bees. He is another competitor and although relatively young, like the other guys, he knows what it takes to win. He’s got composure and makes the right decisions out on the ice. “All four guys will contribute to the team.”
Six feet four inch Czech Jan Krajicek had 13 goals in his 38 point haul from 54 games with the Vipers last season while taking 82 penalty minutes. Slovakian Matus Petricko had more than a point a game in his 50 games with Newcastle, including 20 goals alongside 91 penalty minutes.

Sample Leaves for Cardiff
2 June, 2006 - The Steelers were advised this afternoon that Paul Sample had joined the Cardiff Devils.
Sample spent two years with the Steelers and was a most valued member of the team
Steelers Coach Dave Whistle said "I am sad to see Paul leave, I liked him as a player and as a person and really enjoyed working with him
"Paul worked hard on the ice for us both in practise and in games, I would have loved to have had him back but its not to be. I wish him all the best and wouldn’t rule out him perhaps playing for us again in the future"

Tough guy in for Steelers STEELERS today completed the signing of the toughest player since Dennis Vial wore the Sheffield shirt.
Cardiff Devils' Regan Darby - tipped for a place in Dave Whistle's line up by the Star last night - committed to a one year deal at Sheffield Arena. Darby, a no-nonsense defencemen, has fought and beat heavyweights like Andre Payette and Jeremy Cornish. And he will be tasked with protecting the flair players in Whistle's line-up next season. Darby said today: "My buddy Dave Matsos told me how Dave Whistle puts together championship-winning teams and that impressed me. "Everybody last season saw how Dave managed to turn things round."

More Neal and Moore Barrie for Blaze - (12-06-2006)
Coventry Blaze are happy to announce that Neal Martin and Barrie Moore will both be back with the side next season.
Alternate captain Neal Martin, the Elite League most valuable player of the 2004-5 season, and Barrie Moore, top goal scorer last term have both agreed terms.
Martin, aged 30, will be returning for his third season in Coventry colours, while Moore will be back for his second season.
After overcoming a shoulder injury that hampered his game during the run in to the Grand Slam, Martin scored 16 goals and 31 assists in 72 matches, as well as picking up the defenceman of the year title at the end of season awards.
Moore, aged 31, lit the lamp 33 times and registered 31 assists in 69 games, including a hat trick against Basingstoke and four in a match versus Edinburgh. His opening goal against Cardiff in the Challenge Cup final first leg was voted goal of the season.
Head coach Paul Thompson said he was delighted at securing the former Sudbury Wolves team-mates for another year.
“Neal is one of the best, if not the best, defenceman in the country and Barrie has one of the best shots I’ve seen. Both make big contributions and do lots of little things that coaches love but that might go unspotted during the game. Neal’s contribution on defence is a cornerstone of this side. Barrie gets the goals but is also a very canny player. He may not seem to be a high energy player but he reads the game very well and breaks up a lot of plays in the neutral zone.
“I’m now looking to fill the final two slots on the top two forward lines. I had been in talks with a 6ft 5ins 30 goal a year left winger but unfortunately he was offered an NHL deal so I am now looking elsewhere. I think someone of that nature will complement the skills of Dan Carlson and Adam Calder. With a gritty centreman playing between Barrie and Ashley Tait we have the makings of a very potent attack.
“We have three rock solid people on defence in Neal, Reid Simonton and Trevor Koenig and I will be looking to add toughness, size and skill to the blue line to complete a formidable looking side.”

Capitals sign Peter Janik 17th June 2006
Slovakian defenceman Peter Janik is the first new signing by the Edinburgh Capitals for the 2006/07 season. Janik has spent the majority of his career playing in the Slovakian Extraliga and after 3 season playing for HK Dukla Trencin including a European Champions Cup tournament he then moved to HC Amiens in the French league.
Janik is 33 years old, stands 6 feet tall and weighs 176 pounds. Janik has played over 500 games in his career with 157 points, from 45 goals and 112 assists, 550 penalty minutes and a very good +/- average of +22.
The career highlight for Peter Janik so far has been the European Champions Cup as part of the HK Dukla Trencin team. He commented, "It was a great experience to play in the best tournament in Europe. We played against one of the best teams in Europe. Jagr played for Omsk and he was the best player, along with Maxim Sushinskyj. His abillity to cover the puck is excellent. Big guy, excellent vision. He always took 2 or 3 guys to the corner and then made a pass to an open player. Best player I have played against in my hockey career."
Scott Neil, Edinburgh Capitals general manager, said, "Peter Janik has come highly recommended to me by a few players that have iced alongside him over the years and will make a solid addition to our defence for the coming season."
Young Brit Toby Källander joins the Capitals 19th June 2006
Edinburgh Capitals have signed Toby Källander for the 2006/07 season. Toby is a young player who has a desire, committment and positive attitude to the game. Toby went to school in Sweden primarily to improve his hockey skills and he has benefitted from the excellent training and ice time offered in the Swedish system. Toby has been on the ice between 9 - 20 hours per week over the last three years and is keen to continue to develop as a player. Toby will be given the opportunity to play and train at Elite and SNL level to maximise the amount of ice time available for his development.
The Capitals will continue to develop a number of home grown players through the link between training and playing with SNL and Elite. The Capitals have a good strong core of players coming through the system and it is important that we provide the platform for these players to maximise their potential. The Capitals will continue to search for talented, ambitious players to add to the development programme.

Cingel shoots Cingel scores Cingel all the way!
Caps re-sign Martin Cingel.
Never really doubted he'd be back but still delighted at this news. 28 more points and he'll be our all time top-scorer. Great guy, great player. Deserved our MVP last season.

Radders joins Phoenix blueline
Tuesday, 27th June 2006
Phoenix head coach Tony Hand has continued his summer signing spree with the addition of Great Britain international Adam "Radders" Radmall to his defensive corps.
Hand is confident that his latest signing will do a good job for the team when he said, "Adam has experienced the Elite League previously and strikes me a hungry young man eager to grab another chance with both hands. He was very levelheaded when we spoke and that impressed me too. It's important to the organisation that we sign guys who can fill a role and I'm very confident that Adam will play a key part along with the other British players we've signed.
Twenty-two year old Radmall hails from Nottingham where he came up through the junior ranks of his hometown Lions. In 2003, he joined Coventry and spent two seasons with the Blaze before signing for the Hull Stingrays. Last season he signed a two-way contract with the Nottingham Panthers and Hull, playing most of the season with the Humberside club in the English Premier League. His progress has also seen him rewarded with representing the national team at all age levels through to the senior national team.

Bison Attract Dalmao as Assistant Coach
The Basingstoke Bison are very proud to announce that Duncan Dalmao has agreed terms to become player/Assistant Coach for the Bison in the 2006/07 season.
Dalmao, who previously iced for the Herd 2 seasons ago, scoring 21 points (9 12=21) in 40 games for The Basingstoke Arena based club.
Head Coach Doug Sheppard had this to say about his right hand man, "I have had the opportunity to play with Duncan in both the UK and the ECHL, I am now looking forward to working with him at a coaching level. I have a great amount of respect for Duncan and total confidence in him to run our defence this season"
The Toronto, Ontario native is a veteran of 7 ECHL seasons and split the 2005/06 season between the Elite League's London Racers and the ECHL's Greenville Grrrowl amassing 45 points (14 31=45) in 82 games, while taking 96 minutes in penalties. Dalmao also brings experience in the AHL to the Bison, and has also spent time with the Canadian National Team.
Upon his return to the Bison, Dalmao commented, "I'm very happy to be working with the Bison again. Things didn't go the way I wanted during my last stay and I hope to come back a much improved player. I am very happy to be working with Doug Sheppard for the first time in this capacity, and to doing much work in the community. The fans are a great asset to the team, and the new organisation is shaping up great."
