was quite a good afternoon really ,not a bad result................WE WON WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good lord im still as excited now as i was at half 5!, well its one rollercoaster after another following panthers and for once things have gone our way and we win the play offs, its just incredible words cant describe it, a bit gutted a left the party on the square about 5 minutes before the players came out again but ah well We looked like we would score 3-4 goals after the first 5 minutes, but then we started to take silly penalties which i thought were gonna cost us but we killed them brilliantly, after that it was a close end to end game, could of gone either way, after Devils scored though my heart sank. I thought oh no not again this cant happen but we just held on really until the end. OT was scrappy from both teams but then penaltys....Gallant scored a beauty, i cant really remember the rest just Rasto saving the last one and me jumping around like a loony for 10 minutes, it was just like a blur. The happiest man on the ice was..............Clarkie, he looked thrilled to bits to win it everyone did but him more than most, his first year as captain and whamo...a Play off title wow

No time just now for lenghty reflections but well done guys! A great show of character by everyone in the team - we looked fourth best after Saturday's games but came through to win. Mike Ellis' tough, (even controversial) decisions paid off to the letter at the end - Gallant scoring the winning goal and Rasto closing the door in amazing fashion! Well done and thank you to all concerned - not least Neil Black, who was quietly enjoying it all away from the limelight amongst the fans.

Congratulations guys, enjoy the moment... If you're anything like I was a few years ago, it'll be at least June until you come off that high. You were all so gracious in winning, and apart from some high emotion I was suffering last night, I had a really good night in the pub afterwards. If you take a look at this picture then you will see something interesting...... why is Ian growing out of my head?? It was the nearest they were going to get me to wearing a Panthers jersey. I will be in town this afternoon when you have your celebration.... but I will go shopping, while you enjoy the moment.

What a nail biting weekend but with the perfect ending. Well done Mike Ellis and Calle for making the right decisions in the season. Well done to the team - I have never known the team spirit we have now, and well Rasto - get him signed he's not ready for retirement yet.
What a FANTASTIC weekend!
Can't stop singing the Dan Tessier song with this big grin on my face!!!!!Ha! Ha!
Get ALL this team re-signed. Awesome. I am so proud to be a Panther!!
A special mention to Helen B who has took some real stick throughout the season and unbelievable criticism during the play-offs. Jono don't let her go, shes a great person!!
See everyone at 1.30 - can't wait.

Forget Te$$ he is in a win nothing team,
this is our time, great weekend but not good for my health, my daughter woke up with the words we won the playoffs this morning, still hyper and will be for a long time i reckon, great to win it in our anniversary season as well,
great thanks to Gary Moran ( he gave my daughter a key ring before the game), he takes a lot of stick on these forums but you could see how much this meant to him as well.
Well done Neil Black for getting ME and Calle together what a first season to be proud of, great start to the season sticky middle bit after the european jaunt but great end , thanks to all the players and backroom boys,
and finally how about thanks to all the NIC staff who work hard during the playoff finals, and all season for the GMB NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS games.

Just awesome, fantastic effort, well done guys. I can't believe it's taken 18 years for me to experience a play off victory again, but it was well worth the wait in the end ;D A few random thoughts on the weekend:- How good was Teplitsky for the Devils? Quicker than most forwards, strong in the challenge & had a bullet of a shot. They will do well to hang on to him. Panthers scored only 2 goals from open play over the whole weekend but still won the play offs. Proof yet again that defence (and a great goalie ) wins Championships. The great thing is that we can improve this team quite a bit with a bit of tinkering. First prioirity is a face off winning 1st line centre (even Trev couldn't manage to win many face offs). Plus a second line big scoring winger to replace smokin' Joe, somebody like Kalmikov. Add a bit more speed on D & we could have a good shot at the league title. But for now i'll just settle for winning the last game of the season & basking in the glory for the next 5 months

Nobody called Steelers when Joel Laing won them endless games or Vipers(last year) and Blaze this year with the superb Trevor Koenig. No matter how we got there,it feels so great to just win it!! But being Panthers,we have to do it the hard, gut wrenching way don`t we What a fantastic group of guys this years team is! The team spirit that is so evident is great to see You`re right about the tinkering Jaffa and I`m sure that ME will have a plan to perfect the fomula that he`s put together this season. Congratulations Panthers and many thanks for making all us fans so very happy

Did anyone else see Voth trying to brake a blade of a stick on the bench. He could not do it with his hands, so another player held the stick while Voth stamped on it with his skate. He then just dropped it over the the boards onto the ice. Does anybody have any explanation for his actions, or what he was trying to gain from doing it. Unless it was a Panthers players stick, taken to the wrong bench by a lino.

This is the first year i haven't been worried about penetly shot with Rasto in net He does inspire confidence - he shows amazing calmness. When most goal tenders get caught behind their net in possession of the puck and little immediate support in sight, there are signs of panic. Rasto seems to relish it - the way he turned a Devil's forward inside out by shaping to play the puck first one way then the other then back again before quietly backhanding in the unexpected direction to a team mate boded well for the penalty shoot out - he was obviously full of confidence! ;D In all honesty, I was wasn't really nervous during the whole weekend - been practicing being calm! It was curious seeing people all around wracked with tension yet feeling barely a flicker of anxiety. Didn't stop me jumping around like a loon when Rasto saved the third penalty though! ;D

Ooh we have them worried already - going to give them an anxious summer break then! Has anyone noticed the many Steelers comments about fairness of penalties? I bet they wouldn't have questioned it had they won on penalties Never mind - We are the Champions

I've been more surprised by the many messages of congratulations rather than negative posts.
Nottingham Panthers stared down the barrel three times and didn't blink. They played to the rules of the competition (which amazingly didn't change halfway through), and won.
It's great that most people can see the above and accept it.

Spot on Mark In all the years ive never known a Panthers team like this one to be as focused not once not twice but 3 times when the pressure has really been on, not once did we show a sign of bottling it when it was getting really tence. I salute the whole roster and management team for that, stunning really. This past weekend has been absolute magical for everyone envolved with the panthers , the fans were fantastic all weekend long. It is the worst possible way to lose. We ve been on the wrong end of it so know exactly how cardiff must have felt. But i said to a mate on saturday night that after despatching Belfast , we were destined for glory this time around. Even last monday after the ecstacy of knocking sheffield out I knew Clarkie would be lifting the cup come sunday night. This is OUR time, we should milk it and really saviour the moment. I spoke to a couple of Bracknell fans in the hotel bar on saturday night and they said Ellis is the man to take us forward "you stick with him , but don t expect anything in the first year24 hours later what a bonus we ve been treated too

My eyes are tearing up sat here at work reading all this. I keep having weepy moments every time I think about the win. I'm so proud of the boys.
The Tessier/golf chant is insanely catchy LOL ! Couldn't stop humming it all Saturday and Sunday night I was out with Keefe and co doing golf swings in the middle of the new square. What's Dan Tessier's favourite number ? FORE ! Classic.
Onwards and upwards from here. Roll on September ! Three mile smile on my face here ! ;D ;D ;D

The Lino passed it over, Voth looked at the writing on the shaft, then broke the blade.
