The ref should be punished for blatant discrimination then. Yes, the coach deserved his punishment but if he's gesturing that he can't hear then the ref should be more understanding of the situation Unless the ref knew about his hearing aids then I think it’s unfair to say it’s discrimination, given it was 4-2 when Coolen wanted to discuss a missed call that occurred at 2-2 I suspect the refs told him to leave it given there was about 30 seconds left of the game but due to Coolen not being able to hear it meant that both sides became more frustrated which lead to the escalation.

Why didn’t the ref go and talk to him, not hard is it.
The standard of officiating is awful though. Take the ban that 98 got the other week

He might have been hard of hearing he got the first penalty for unsportsmanlike for saying something to the ref which put them on the PK, which was stupid as there was chance fife could pull it back, then the defender took a dumb penalty for flipping off the helmet when the official was right behind him. Coolan lost them the game by the first outburst which put his team shorthanded, he just wasn't wise enough to stop which is why he got the first game penalty. the ref did go over to him and obviously received another mouthful hence the 2nd abuse of officials penalty.

I was sat right behind the away bench. He was kicking off ever since the dodgy missed tripping calls (ironic as it was the Fife player that should have been called first). Every time one of the officials skated within earshot he shouted f-ing joke over and over again. Whenever play stopped he was giving them earful until the ref finally had enough. Even if he was hard of hearing the ref gave a very clear misconduct signal right in front of him for the whole world to see not once but twice and still he wouldn’t give up. He acted like a complete moron and to me deserved everything he got. Zero sympathy

While the coach has some argument that he couldn't hear the refs, he continued to make the 'open/close mouth gesture' which is universally seen as insulting and not a sign that you can't hear some-one. He thought they'd been hard done by on the breakaway, ignoring the obvious hook that led up to the breakaway
