You can also stand out in the rain, getting freezing cold for a few hours and not seeing one goal, with a load of Primma donars rolling and diving around like they have been hit by a bus. Listening to a load of foul mouthed people, peeing everywhere, players cheating to try to get a result very sportsmanlike.

You can make up the same disparaging pithy nonsense about any sport if you wanted. I mean Rugby is just a bunch of overweight oafs who line up in 2 massive lines and run at each other to touch the ground on the other side, sometimes interspersed by lining up in smaller lines and pushing each other while some one rolls the stupidly misshapen egg-ball. Oh and of course the ooh, let's have a throw in, but let's throw out teammate in the air as well. It's just football's weird, unpopular little step brother who occasionally gets a bit of attention when it's the world cup or six nations, but then we go back to ignoring it for 50 weeks out of the year because there are literally dozens of other more interesting sports like indoor bowls. People have different tastes. Hence why a lot more people care about Cardiff City than Cardiff Devils.

Success does go hand in hand with attendances. I’ve been a lifelong Forest fan and former season ticket holder.
When we were in league 1 and losing 0-4 at home to the likes of Plymouth the place was half full.
Now we are Premier League you have to pay to join membership schemes on the off chance of spare tickets. Facebook is full of people begging for tickets.
Whilst I still follow them, I’m happy to sit in the warm and watch the hockey now. Thought there might be an overspill into Hockey, but even Notts are doing well so their attendances are up too.
Cost of living not helping, but there is choice there now.
Match day tickets now at Forest start at £42 - Panthers compare favourably.
