I wouldn’t particularly want O’connor no because I think he’s a cocky show off flash Harry. But if it was a choice of having him or not when you’re not having a 14th import then I’d have him. You slated him though lol - said “Aaron Fox isn’t daft enough to pay his ridiculous wages for an over rated Brit who is suspect defensively” If we’d have signed him we all know you’d have criticised the club for it. I did and I still do. He’s a decent player for a Brit, but he’s way over rated by many and I certainly wouldn’t pay him the £1500 a week Sheffield we’re paying him. That’s why I said Fox isn’t daft, because he got rid of O’connor sharpish as soon as he saw how wasted that daft money was. I even called it when Fox first arrived and I said “wait til he finds out what O’Connor earns” Pay him a reasonable wage, one that he’s worth and yes I’d have him instead of an empty import slot, but I wouldn’t pay him like Steelers did as probably one of the top 3 earners in the whole league !

Who were the top 2 earners in the league? Now of course that would be speculation but there would be very few players in the EIHL on even £1000 a week hence I said probably top 3 at £1500 a week. Keep trying your best to pick flies if you like and I’ll keep answering you. Or of course you could always tell me all the players that were earning more than O’connor if you’re suggesting he wouldn’t be top 3 ?

Not picking flies at all Iginla, you said BOC was in the top 3 and I asked who the other 2 were. Simple question really

...probably one of the top 3 earners in the whole league ! To be fair, Iggy did say *probably*. He didn't every day BOC *was* in the top three.

We could have gone with 14+5 but we went with 13+6 to start with. I personally think our Brit pack has done well so far. Betteridge, in my eyes, is on the cusp of being a top 6 forward, Myers is one of the best bottom 6 centres in the league. Tetlow and Lee are decent defensive focused defenders, great on the PK. Kelsall is growing in confidence with the increased game time lately, hopefully he can begin to pick up some goals whilst bringing energy and playing on the PK. Kerlin will get chances in the challenge cup.
I expect we’ll keep Thow, so when everyone is fit, Tim will have a choice to make. He will either leave a Brit out so we’ll have 14+5 or he will leave an import out and go with 13+6. The key thing is that we’ll have flexibility/options and we’ll also have MCP and Hopkins who can provide cover if we encounter injuries again. Over the next few weeks though it looks like those two are going to be called upon.

No, but mentioning some sort of league table of wages probably suggests a knowledge of numbers from across the league, which I doubt Iggy (or anyone) has. I think we'd all assume BOC was on a sizeable wage at Sheffield, it would've been enough to leave it there.

Thow looked good last night, steady and seemed to fit in. If we keeep him and let go of someone then it should be Matheson, another poor game from him. Thow did better in his first 2 shifts than Matheson has in his last three games.

Bit hasty. #20 hasn't stood out so much in the past few games as in the past, he's not making the long skates from back to front and he's definitely lost a step, but he's so experienced it would be foolish to ditch him. Baillargeon however seems to be carrying an injury as he's first off the ice on his line.

I thought Matheson did will yesterday, he’s not been as offensive as he was before Covid but we’ve got a lot of good 2-way defenders now, Mark did pick up 2 assists last night though. We shouldn’t let anybody go, we need to stick with at least 14 imports, 6 brits and the 2 two-way brits to give us flexibility. Injuries are be a big factor in who wins the league title, having cover gives you the best shot.

Thow looked good last night, steady and seemed to fit in. Yes I "player cammed" him for a few shifts and he looked good. On his first shift someone skated towards Carr after he'd covered the puck and Thow got in his way...which hasn't happened all season. Wasn't there Sunday though, hopefully his debut wasn't a one-off performance.

Thow's teammate Cole Ully has just been released by HKM Zvolen as well. Point per game ECHL player with 0.37 AHL record. 26 so the sort of age Wallace likes. But a left shooting LW so could we slot him in? Feels like maybe we need more of a centre maybe? Bring him in as injury cover though and give him a shot then look at the options. Won't happen but would be nice if it did www.eliteprospects.com/player/62241/cole-ully

Clearly Corey agreed with our assessment, as Ully's just joined Neilson at HK Poprad in Slovakia, where Neilson is their first overseas coach.

Thow by the numbers so far 5 GP (2 League, 3 Cup) 0+2, all in the Cup. 4 PIMs overall -2 in those 5 games, 6 +s, 8 -s (2 +s, 1 - in the League) 11 SOGs (6 League) 4 blocked shots.
Not seen him play in the flesh yet, any comments?

I thought he looked good in his first two games, he was jumping up into the play and looked quite impressive. I think he’s been a lot less noticeable in the last three games though, but the same could probably be said for the entire team apart from maybe Welsh.
Maybe it would be an idea to mix the defensive pairings up as well for this weekend.
