Not this league now for various reasons. Problem is as per usual lots of leading figures in this league were constantly in denial Different topic but agreed, yes.

It’s quite amazing really that this subject is still being talked about, over 800 people died in the last 24 hrs, this pandemic is spreading like wild fire and is so serious to everyone’s health. Yet its still being brought up, yes I know it’s about the money, but money has never been able to make you invincible to disease. I would be over the moon if we had hockey back by Sept/Oct in a safe environment, as for now this is certainly pie in the sky, and insane expectations, Stay Safe All. It is amazing indeed. That the EIHL are so greedy that even in these very very grim times and despite potentially receiving some serious financial help, that they’re still looking to start a ridiculous mini league just to keep more money rolling in. Whilst ever the EIHL keep coming up with dumb farcical and insane ideas then people will rightly shoot them down.

I thought the money was only on offer if they did get the product back on the ice?

All seems quite reasonable to me then. Offer of some funding (do we even know if that's grant or loan yet?) to get the game back on the ice in some form, and they're looking into whether it'll be feasible. The horror.

As per the article AshfieldPanther shared on the previous page, Tony Smith stated “We have been informed by Sport England that a final decision regarding funding for the Elite League will be made on January 15th, so we hope to be in a position to know and share more shortly after that.” I’m of the same opinion as you, I don’t see anything wrong with teams trying to get some ice hockey going. Tony Smith has stated they’ve planned for full testing protocol, the same as the other elite sports, so I say go for it.

The initial offer was weighted towards a loan for the 5 teams with a smaller grant portion. The total value was considered too high so a counter was made at a lower value with a more even split of loan to grant.

Still hoping for 21/22, even that could be pie in the sky, but we still have 8/9 months for that. As for any hockey before that we can forget that, that really is Wacky Backy stuff.Stay Safe All.

Not official from the EIHL, but Sheffield Star say it got pushed back to the 29th. Seems about right for a bureaucratic exercise. www.thestar.co.uk/sport/ice-hockey/skaters-will-be-ready-if-new-season-faces-says-sheffield-steelers-coach-3100985

There was a window, but it's gone. If they'd started already, than you can maybe push through in the current circumstances, but I don't see why you'd actively start up.

That window smashed a long long time ago, it’s just a hole in the wall now letting the wind and the rain in. Hopefully some Glaziers may be available come Sept/Oct. In the meantime we have to put up with the pane of no hockey. Stay Safe All.

Great hockey, but not the same as being there watching your own team, not for you I know but watching your home team can never be replaced. Getting out and the whole social scene can never be replaced with TV.

Turns out filling out a couple of forms & requesting a lower value is too complicated a process for the great minds at EIHL hq. Inevitable.

The Star seemed to indicate it was just that the meeting was delayed. Is there some special Jord knowledge or just a prediction*? *even if it is just a prediction it wouldn't surpirse me in the slightest. Seeing as we seemingly managed to screw up Bulmer's Visa last year.

Turns out this is rather complicated. Meeting is delayed for that & other sports bodies getting back in touch far sooner.
