Can the guys raise their game after a gruelling weekend against a Clan team that cant buy a win of late. Hopefully enough in the tank to see us over the next couple of weeks as the schedule is manic

Straightforward victory. Clan will be shot after last night's exertions. The Grapes Count = Panthers 6 Clan 2. Zach learning the realities of being a hockey coach.

This has the potential to be a make or break game. Panthers should win it, but far from guaranteed. Any points dropped are very precious. Watch Killeen stand on his head. His only game of 10 in Decemmber with a save % in the 90s was December 31st. He needs to see more rubber than a Dunlop factory tonight.

McLaughlin gets the start ahead of Killeen. Tbf he’s been roasted in recent weeks.

Fancy dress night and cheap tickets? I think the most common fancy dress is fans attending a hockey game in hockey jerseys a la Slap Shot, Youngblood...etc

Perlini opener cancelled by Stanisz at the back door.
Both teams lacking fluency, lovely play by Golovkovs for the opener, bad offensive turnover/transition for the equaliser.

2-2, Chad Rau picks up broken play and scores, before Herr smashes one in.
Genuinely horrendous officiating, pretty sure Lepine was bleeding off a high stick. No call.

Panthers win a poor game in OT. Officiating was terrible, they got to the right call but no idea how or if using video (like they appeared to) is protocol.
Still, a win post continental cup, post travel and with some injuries is decent even if we were lacking all over the ice tonight.

I must say, as bad as the officials were today I dont like the club playing the video replays of the incident. The officials had got together and given the penalty before we palyed it. That only after the linesman picked uo the gum shield and tooth off the ice and they had a conference. It's likely agaisnt the rules to some extent, but even if not it's poor etiquette and very Steeleresque.

2 points in games like that where you dont play particularly well are the ones that keep you in hunt. Regardless of back up goalies, them playing last night etc, we had our issues too after a monster weekendso i'll take it as a job done on a rough night.

Good post euro win and thank goodness for 4 on 3 against a team in free fall with a backup netminder.
Don’t usually moan about refs but pretty sure ref 40 was either drunk or someone had broke into the locker room and stole his kit. Appalling. There will come a day that even the Darnell haters will rue his retirement.

That was a very poor game, both teams looked very tired, which is understandable with our injuries, the boys did well to get the job done.
It was another game where I felt we could have been more direct, the movement of the forwards for Herr’s goal was terrific though. The refs were abysmal but they finally got a call right, which we confidently capitalised on in OT, never in doubt. Now we head up to Fife, despite their form it will still be tough.

Right now, doesn’t matter how we get 2 points as long as we get 2 points. Awful game of hockey, awful officials, no fluidity to either teams offence but when the chips have been down recently, we’ve managed to find a way to win more often than not.
We’re not a glamorous team like the Sheffield Steelers that’ll smash goals for fun. We’re a grind it out, disciplined, hard working team.
Our big issue tonight was that our D are so important in our offence. They start the plays, make the breakout passes and get us into the offensive zone. Being so short on bodies meant they couldn’t do that. But fair play to the 4 import D who were excellent tonight. Especially Mark Matheson, who was my MOTM tonight.

If the injuries to Deutcsh, DeSantis and Bulmer are long term the club need to get some cover in. We’re in a decent position in the league, it would be a shame to throw it away due to parsimony.

Hansen lost 2 teeth, chipped another and damaged his veneers I think. Booked in for dental surgery in the morning.

The injury to Deutsch occurred on 1/1/2020, hopefully Doucet was quickly on the ball after this looking at potential recruits. Ideally, we need a player to return, or a new one to be brought in, before next Wednesday.

Matheson is playing so many minutes it’s only a matter of time before he rubs out of steam too. Have to make some moves.

Matheson can play big minutes as it's not his game to bomb up and down the ice. His positioning sense and knowing when to jump into the play is first class. Hes the eihl version of a Nick Lidstrom !

Awful officiating missed so many possible calls, ref 40 looked as if he was sure what he was doing. Both teams looked lethargic, clan from the game on Wednesday and us from the weekend. TBH it looked like we didn't know how to play against a slower, clutch and grab team after three game against euro opposition. And what is the idea of a powerplay where you pass and pass and pass and pass and don't take a shot? We go on a 4 min PP and then the 1st 90 seconds of we don't take a shot, hooter goes and we gift them a point. Puzzling.

In fairness they worked a massive chance for Hansen when it went to the boards and two clan players bit. It just ran over his stick as he went to shoot and then couldn’t reset. The powerplay in OT was much more proactive, shot to the front of the net, picked up un front and Hansen did the rest. Not saying it can’t be better but I actually thought in the end it was ok last night.
