So the usual gameplan again, start at a reasonable level of play and then begin the slide into mediocrity (at best) in the second. Panthers saved yet again by the only man who seems willing to put in the effort, it's a pity we haven't got a few more players with his work ethic. On a further note, the drummers were noticably subdued for the majority of the game and, admittedly there were a lot of newbies and odd-timers, but a substantial number of the crowd put more effort into blagging freebies from Paws than they did supporting the team. But NB got their money so why worry ... What's the need to be negative, we played poorly and were second best but won. How many times this year have we played well and lost. This is one of the hardest working and most entertaining teams we've had in years.

White shirts with dark blue shorts vs light grey shirts with black shorts... no, absolutely no chance of confusion there! What a balls-up... "The charity skyline jerseys will be back on New Year's Eve! 😼"

But NB got their money so why worry ... It was because this game fell after the original trial period had ended so most of the block 19 lot who had moved their season ticket seat has not done so for this game as they weren't allowed to. Panthers then announced the trial was continuing but most seats had then been sold to casual fans. Same with the Sheff game coming up.

We all could wax lyrical all day long about Herr, he is simply incredible and an absolute talisman.
Carr kept us alive in that game just as much as Herr did especially with the breakaway save followed by a low pad save. He kept the play alive leading to the OT goal too. He has settled In really well following an inconsistent start to the season.
Hansen made a great pass to Herr for the equaliser at 3-3. I feel if Hansen was on that break with any other player he’d have shot but I believe he has the same confidence that Herr will score each time he has the puck that us fans do.
There are plenty of holes we could pick in the first 51 minutes but that 9 minute Comeback was incredible, left us all with a sense of joy which isn’t the norm on Boxing Day and now has us 3/3 so far in the festive period so we need to keep the momentum rolling.

Careful with that positivity. It simply won't do round 'ere... Wasn't there but it sounds a bit like the Sam Herr show. He is a gem of a player. Horvat's been a bit quiet since those first 2 games? Not being scored on, which is no bad thing, but not scoring either?

Not every forward needs to score and from my perspective, he's doing a good job on that shutdown line.

I agree, Horvat-Lacho-Ollie appear to be a line which provides some grit and energy, but not a lot of offensive threat. After our struggles yesterday to break the Blaze down (apart from Herr’s magic and a peach of a shot from Talbot) I wonder if it’s worth mixing the 2nd and 3rd lines. Maybe try: Horvat - Talbot - Bulmer Golovkovs - Lacho - Ollie Horvat may benefit from being with two more offensively talented players, whilst also complimenting them. Golovkovs could have more of a free reign on that line where he can try to create something out of nothing. I do think we need to change it up a bit because there was a lot of frustration yesterday up until the 50 minute mark.

Amazed they played an entire period like that. Proper amateur hour. It was a stupid idea to play even one period in a kit clash as bad as that. Imagine if Bulmer had hit Herr by mistake and injured him. 🙄

In my opinion with teams like Manchester now suffering , it looks like the sport is going downhill to me.

I'd like to see Talbot/Bulmer/Ollie and Golovkovs/Lacho/Horvat. Whatever happens, when DeSantis is fit, it's likely an import will sit, surely the most likely is Rheault? (1 point in his last 16 league games)

On a side note, of EIHL players who have taken at least 100 face offs, the bottom two players when ranked in success % are both Steelers. Davies is 51/154 = 33.1% Jono Phillips is 36/110 = 32.7%.
Makes Lacho's 121/319 = 37.9% look pretty good.
Only 5 players still in the league are above 55% in the face off circle. Two are Devils.

(1 point in his last 16 league games) Wallace doesn’t seem to want to run 4 lines though, which is part of the problem I think. There all sorts of line combinations we could see, but as you say, when all imports are fit Rheault looks to be the one left out. The fact he had very little ice time yesterday is a good indicator that this will be the case.

Which import didn't play this one? Was DeSantis still out? As usual, the gamesheet is showing 15 of them.

Desantis warmed up, and the scratched players announced by Stef were Gospel and Perlini. However, Desantis didn't ice.

By the rules, does DeSantis still count as having benched due to the fact he warmed up. Surely in the past players have decided not to play and their name has been taken off the GRS. Or probably not as it's too late to replace at this stage just prior to the start.

Before opening faceoff the refs and Tim Wallace had a chat and Wallace pointed at a piece of paper (that's what it looked like from Block 5). Could be coincidence, could be clarifying a lineup change.

Remember last season the Steelers guy who played in a game when he wasn’t even on the team sheet and there was no comeback or penalisation !

And in the big scheme of things, does it really matter?

With all the errors in GRS and not knowing what the final count on players is, like this game, it's possible a statistician may commit suicide this season.
