Simply in terms of league games where the team have been ahead (of any description) at some stage but ultimately lost, that's been 6 games. 6 of the 9 games Panthers have lost, they've been ahead in at some stage. Again, I've no idea what the stats for the other teams are.
However, in only 2 games have they been up 2 goals. Sheffield, Saturday and Cardiff, 20 Oct, 3-1 up @30.21 (very briefly, see above).

It's not a fitness thing, we concede instant replies far too often, no matter which period it is. Thought I'd try and have a look at this. If you define "instant replies" as a goal scored by the opposition less than 2 minutes after Panthers score, so far this season the Panthers have conceded three such goals in the league, out of the 42 conceded up to prior to this weekend. 2 in the same game vs Cardiff at home, 20 October; one away at the Blaze 27 October. I've genuinely no idea how that stacks up with any other team in the league. Flip it on its head, of the 40 goals Panthers had scored prior to this weekend, Panthers have scored (wait for it) three goals within 2 minutes of being scored on. One in the same game above vs Blaze, one in Dundee, 30 October, and one vs Belfast, 9 November. So, the issue may be one of perception, as it's only happened three times so far this league season, 2 of which were (and that was disappointing, I agree) in the same game. In the 8 CC games, there has been one such goal, Storm's first 23 October, and one Panthers goal within 2 minutes of an opposition goal, Panthers second that same game. In terms of goals conceded by period, again up to before the weekend, the 42 were split 11/14/15 and goals against 10/11/20 (of which 5 were in that blowout game vs Flames (incl 2 ENGs) and one a 6 on 3 PP vs Giants) which undermines a little the initial theory (that Panthers somehow concede more goals in the third because they are poorly conditioned) as they also score more goals in the third than the first two. If they were indeed "badly conditioned", you'd surely production to drop off as well as goals against increase? Anyhoo, hope that helps. Always interesting when our perceptions don't match up with reality. Seems the immediacy of 3 rapid replies in one game has warped my perception. Still stand by that it isn't a fitness thing though. Else we'd see significantly more goals in the 3rd.

Else we'd see significantly more goals in the 3rd. It is, and I'm not trying to prove anyone "wrong". For example, for years I've "known" Panthers were a poor second period team, yet that isn't the case in fact, this season or last. What is interesting is that last season, the periods went in order of "success", the first being Panthers "best", the second in the middle, and the third the worst. That much at least is repeating this year? But again, I don't know all the other teams's stats to make any kind of comparison.

Perception is odd isn't it... I "clearly" remember in the old barn the 2nd periods being our worst with upmost confidence of coming back in the third…

I "clearly" remember in the old barn the 2nd periods being our worst with upmost confidence of coming back in the third… I remember a few years ago that everyone (including myself) was convinced that our PP was the worst in the league... the debates and diatribes were endless. Then somebody (Bobness - was it you? ) totted up the stats and worked out that it was something like 2nd or 3rd best in the league at that stage of the season! Lots of egg on lots of faces...
