Does anybody have any face-off winning stats for Talbot (or the team as a whole) from this tournament? Would be interesting to see... Bobness, where are you! If there are face off stats from the weekend, they're buried somewhere. So far in his panthers career, Talbot is 32/44 in the league, 72.7%! (Some reversion to the mean will undoubtedly happen here) and 15/32 in the Cup, 46.9%. Any long term face off winning percentage near 60 is very good indeed.

That's top notch from Lacho, who's under 40% in the league and cup this year! just as an aside, how would you decide who "won" a faceoff? Mine would be along the lines of "a faceoff is won by the team who gain clear possession as a result of said faceoff". That is pretty subjective, though?

Highlights. They're in Danish but I suppose that's a bonus.

Panthers also 2 for 10 on the PP and perfect from 8 on the PK, for 15.12. Shame the TOI wasn't collected.

There isnt really a thread to talk about this and I've not seen much talk on facebook or anywhere else about it, but, has anyone picked up on what the Hungarians did to us at the end of their game against Amiens? At 3-1 down with less than a minute to go, they pulled the goalie. Fair enough, weve seen it before. But then, when they conceded an ENG to make it 4-1 they pulled him again. And Amiens scored another ENG to make it 5-1 and give them the four goal swing that they needed to knock us out if we didn't at least pick up a point vs Sønderjyske. There was absolutely no reason for them to do that other than to stuff our chances. We were bloody fuming watching the game

Their only way to qualify was to bring the goal difference back in their favour and hope we lost. However unlikely that became wouldn't you expect Panthers - if in the same boat - to go down swinging? I assume the waves didn't part to let Amiens score the fifth, they were still trying to retain the puck?
TBH, this was a group we should've been getting through without favours, which in the end we did of course.

There's a reason Panthers vs SønderjyskE was scheduled last game, it should have been (and was) the decider. The loss vs Ferancvarosi was unexpected to most, certainly me.

Amiens fans could probably also accuse Vojens of taking it easy against us, because they had already qualified no matter the result. When the unbeaten, home team, then go 0-4 down after 28 minutes, one couldn't blame the French if they got upset. Fans (and Gary Moran) see what they want to see In things like this, the tinfoil hats come out.

I still dont buy it. At 3-1 down the goal difference was Panthers +1 Amiens 0 Ferencvaros -1
At 4-1 Panthers +1 Amiens +1 Ferencvaros -2
At 4-1 down with 20 seconds left, why pull your goalie? They were never going to get 3 goals in 20 seconds

Fastest 3 in the NHL was 15 seconds, apparently.
Obviously it's almost impossible that it's going to happen, but unless they gave the puck up on purpose and just let Amiens get their goal, they didn't owe us anything and may as well try it.

You should have been in Amiens in 2004 if you weren't already.. now that was total robbery !!

Was speaking to Quist after the final game as he was leaving for Stockholm almost as soon as the game ended (with team permission) and he was saying they all suspected Amiens and Ferencvarosi were conspiring to knock Panthers out or give us a slimmer chance, so they were even more pumped up to stick it to them.
Sounded like Wallace gave the team a deserved earful after the Saturday game too.

There was a game in Coventry a few years ago in the Tony Hand era when Manchester were two goals up with about 17 seconds to go and lost after a Storm player went for empty net glory instead of winding the clock down.

Would the answer be not to include Empty Net Goals in the goal difference?

I think we were touted to be favourites to win the group so partly because of that, but I suppose also because the French have never really liked us and every country in Europe seems to have a grudge against the UK since all this Brexit stuff happened. The fans of all three teams we played were so welcoming and nice though, just seems to be on the ice where other teams are a bit spiteful.

It wouldn’t be the first time,it happened in Amiens leading to the Slovenians stuffing Panthers.
