A right winger, so effectively a replacement for Jakobs, I expect he’ll bring more to the team.

Point a game in the EIHL and Denmark, experience in AHL, DEL and Liiga. Not an out and out goalscorer, though. Not a terrible pickup in the slightest, but we're still short on firepower IMHO.

Does he honestly look better than what we've got?

We needed an out and out scorer or a face of winning centre. This is not the type of player we needed at this current moment.

Pretty much how I see it. Decent pick up, decent career stats in some good leagues and looks an upgrade on Jakobs. All good news. Not sure he is an out and out top liner I think we need but time will tell. Over recent years I've tried to not to get excited at the guys over a point per game in EIHL who have been at lesser budget teams simply because I think they tend to log a hell of a lot more minutes for those teams. It's certainly not to be sniffed at, and is a good sign, but it appears it doesn't always transfer over when they move to a bigger budget team. As ever, it's how the other pieces are put together. We do need that out and out sniper still and Id also like to see a power forward type too. Welcome to Nottingham. Here is hoping he can have a positive impact.

An upgrade on Jakobs but not going to fix our problems. Mind you i think we need about 3 players to do that so cant blame Jake there.

Does he honestly look better than what we've got? Better than nothing I suppose. Least it brings us up to the correct number for the weekend. I'm a little underwhelmed, but PPG for Coventry is ok - would've liked more of them to be goals - but least he was getting on the board. He's doesn't look like a top line, go to guy though. But you're probably right in that our massive budget doesn't stretch to that, Pidge. Good luck Jake, you'll likely need it. (Still not replaced our "top" centre. 3 weeks since he retired I think?)

Some people really do need to lower their expectations as to the quality of goal scorers we are able to sign. Realistically how many are on the market currently? I’d guess not many and then you have to factor in how much money they want and whether they are willing to come to this league and to this team in it’s current situation

Btw the AHL camps are still trimming down and if you offer a good wage to a player wanting to try europe then he'll come.. it's where Doucet is looking is what the issue is here. Either his network isnt very good because let's be honest how many players do Panthers sign who get mentioned on peoples wish lists .. how many on these lists get picked up by Sheffield, Cardiff and Belfast ?

The bar is set by our rivals. People want players at a level signed by the likes of Cardiff, Sheffield and Belfast. Nobody is looking at CVs of players that would be out of reach for those teams. Those teams also manage to pick the players required at any point in the season when needed. The players are there and this is the perfect time of year to pick them up.

There is a lot over here now who have some AHL experience. The point I'm making is when the Ahl teams trim their rosters those players end up going to their ECHL affiliate or traded to another AHL/come to europe . Those are the players I'm referring to

I think people would be more excited by this signing if he didn't have Coventry on his CV. His AHL PPG average is higher then Sam Herr. Higher than Blair Riley. He's played in Finnish Liiga and did well enough to kept for a second season there and DEL. I think people just see Coventry and think average
