I think we finally have a benefit for this ridiculous group stage.
We might get our mojo back or try new things without it being a league game

Steelers lost another defender. Liwig to a broken arm apparently. They are already weak on defence. Hopefully a game to give our forwards confidence.

They’re already missing Johnson, now Liwing and according to Fox they will most probably be missing Brocklehurst too....Three import D men down then. Panthers might have a chance. 🤣

Slightly off topic but does anybody know if you actually have to print tickets at home like it suggests or if you can just show them and scan them on your phone? Seems strange if you’d have to print them in this day and age!

Meanwhile back on the ice . . . Big worries about his one. While most of our defencemen look comfortable on the ice, he lack he physical strength to move forwards out of our crease and see to come off second best in most duels along the boards. On offensive we have great possession but no true scorer. Nearly every attack ends up with a pass to the point for a long range blast. I do like our workrate but fear against The Big Orange Machine this weekend. They always forecheck aggressively and at speed and I can see them taking the win. The Grapes Count = Panthers 1 : Steelers 3.

If they're really down to their last O'Connor on defence, I expect a win. 5-2.

Thing I'm most looking forward to in this game? Paws coming on the ice again at the end with his hi vis vest on for his "Goal peg security" role

The League's Biggest Rivalry(TM) without an actual league fixture until 23rd November. Great way to whet newbie appetites by frontlogging four dead rubber games -- and neither the Steelers website fixture page nor the ticket portal make any mention of them being CC matches. Call me cynical.

2 periods down, pretty big hole.

The most Panthers goal possible. 3.2 seconds left in the period after we'd had load of pressure without scoring.

So pleased I decided not to spend any money on these farcical, money grabbing CC group games. The games mean little, but the way things arewe could have done with a confidence lifting performance. Sounds like the opposite. Just home from enjoying a nove pub meal with the family instead.

I’m really starting to fall out of love with this club and the sport in this country.

Ehh, not sure either side can be surprised so far.
Steelers are trying to establish themselves as a title force after a spell of poor chemistry and questions about attitude, while Panthers are - despite some encouraging results - still a team in transition that was comparatively built on a shoestring.
A dead rubber game will ultimately be decided by a combination of desire and skill. I’d say Steelers obviously have the better side and have more to prove on this occasion.

You do realise if they lose tonight they’ll have lost 5 out of the last 6 games ! 🙄

That also isn’t Panthers’ worst losing record in the last two seasons, if you want technical encouragement.
