Just a good road win again, thanks Panthers We're you personally as inspirational as yesterday? You scored half as many so maybe not. Thoughts? I had a good weekend and I know what fans I would rather be this weekend. All the best to Panthers this season, like quite a few of your players but not sure the goalie situation is great for you guys (bet you wish you got Killeen now)

Didn’t go tonight and didn’t expect much. The Panthers look competent and work hard but currently we lack scoring punch. I suspect this is because we have what the money provided would buy. A month in we look to a mid table team who will win a few but lose just as many. We certainly won’t be challenging the likes of Belfast, Cardiff and Sheffield, and based on this weekend we are trailing the Clan too.

Its very simple this team lacks pure quality up front. Even so we should be doing better than we are, but this is just how this season will go.
I said it when the signings were made, we havnt got a first line. I reckon we need 2 or 3 first line players. If you dropped Ling and Fox from when we had them in this team in place of say Jakobs and Rheault then we might be alright. But we just dont have that sort of creative ability.
Some players have not produced though so far. Bulmer, Jakobs, Malmquist and Loiseau have contributed virtually nothing in terms of points as of yet.

I don't expect anything major this season sadly, we lack goalscoring. Our energy, puck possession and board play is all there we just need to find goals!

At this moment in time we are a poor side however we still keep trying and give it a go.On that basis I think that this team will finish in the top ten.

Utterly toothless Pt 2. Not convinced with this team at all. Lacking a centre and an entire first line.

We were better than last night as we created more chances (just)...however the finishing was abysmal. We make nice plays and pass it crisply but there just isn't that x factor we desperately need.
Clan sign Roy and he got both goals tonight despite not playing that well...we need someone like him who knows where the net is.
The amount of fans around me who clearly dont know the rules and have been going longer than I have...frustratingly funny in the end.

Very disappointing tonight - 5th in the league will be our absolute ceiling, anything above that will be a 5 loaves and 2 fishes miracle.

Rough weekend.
We couldn't buy a goal. Players taking ridiculous angle shots or shooting straight at a defending players' feet. We look great in terms of puck possession and controlling the play in the offensive zone but when it comes to getting shots off, they're just poor decisions as to when players decide to shoot and it kills all of the hard work they've put in. Some of our forwards have a lot of potential but it just isn't happening. I like the way Golovkovs plays, he's quick and you can see he wants it badly, but it's just that scrappy that his shots, and others' shots are doing nothing to threaten the goaltender. I thought Malmquist was better tonight, created a couple of goal scoring chances which should've been buried. Bulmer holds the puck better than anyway, skates well too but he couldn't buy a goal at the moment, couple of clean cut chances he's had this weekend which haven't hit the back of the net. Quist seems to have slowed down quite a bit, looks good on the puck but again, just cannot seem to get through any traffic to get clean shots off. It's frustrating because the effort is mostly there, but they just cannot seem to break through opposition defences well enough to get good chances.
At the back, it's unpredictable. The defence seem a bit hit and miss, and whichever they decide they want to be, Carr will be the opposite. Carr made some solid saves over the weekend and had some strong periods of time between the posts but then he'll suddenly become very shaky. Carr got us off to a very poor start today, second time I've counted this season he has been called for DoG for holding the puck instead of playing it. It was a clear penalty. Though I didn't see any kind of hand gesture from any official telling him to play the puck. Then he throws the net off when he concedes and shouts at the ref, getting an abuse penalty. Both penalties were avoidable and cost us. The officials were not great, that's for sure but on several occasions we walked into penalties.
I thought Matherson looked quite fatigued today, he certainly gave his all but there were an unusual amount of mistakes today. I though Lepine looked pretty good, surprisingly. Connelly wasn't as good as yesterday and DeSantis seems slightly invisible (good or bad?).
There's lots of work to be done. The effort is there, the end product is not. It is as simple as that. I'm looking forward to next weekend but also worried. Steelers have been poor lately too so both sides go into this one wanting to break their curse. I just worry because offensively Steelers are better and whilst their defence and goaltending has been substandard, it means nothing if we can't hit a barn door.
Too early for personnel changes but we need to get our act together.

My first ‘look’ at the new team this season and I don’t like what I see.
Some rather polite posters on here, I thought the game was shocking from both teams. A poor advert for ice hockey in this country. I left the rink as deflated as I have done for the last couple of seasons unfortunately. Apart from the excitement of 5 minutes of O/T the first 60 minutes were completely forgettable. Even the new ‘facility fee’ scoreboard/tele what ever you want to call it was crap!
It’s going to be a looooong season. ☹️

First opportunity for me to see the team this weekend and first impressions aren’t good. Let’s hope things change.
I can’t fault the effort and the build up is good but that’s as far as it goes. Carr to me is not good enough at the mo, we can’t score, the power play is poor and we have zero physicality. It’s goung to be a long season....

Did Jakobs go off injured during the game? Don’t recall seeing him towards the end or was he just so invisible I didn’t notice him

Clan are a tough team to play as we’ve found out this weekend.
For me, they matched our level of work rate but they combined it with physicality, which I think took a lot out of us. We didn’t create as many glaring chances tonight and I think that was down to their teams desire to work and wear us down. They kept us to the outside and we don’t seem to have the creativity to produce chances in the slot, Bulmer and Herr seem like the only ones who have the ability to create something from nothing but I feel like we need a centre between them. We certainly don’t have a player that can score on the half chances either, we struggled to get the puck on net, 19 SOG is poor.
I don’t feel like we’re utilising the offensive ability of the defence enough either, Matheson in particular can give us more, his shot is a hammer from the point. Defensively I was content tonight, 16 SOG for them should see us win the game, they took both their PPG well which you can accept but they didn’t really have any other grade A chances. We just failed to produce offensively.
I don’t want to be negative and hound players out, but, I want to see us, at least, compete this season, I’m pretty sure Gui and Tim do as well. Do we believe that the underperforming forwards can come good, have they shown they’ve got the ability to turn it round?

Did Jakobs go off injured during the game? Don’t recall seeing him towards the end or was he just so invisible I didn’t notice him Wallace shortened the bench, we only ran 3 lines, Jakobs, Kelsall and Hazeldine didn’t play at all in the 3rd. Kelsall may have had some time on the PK.

Maybe it is too early for changes, but we are now 9 competitive games in + 4 pre season games. I'm not sure i've seen any positive reviews on Jakobs. Certainly not many. Plenty of problems in the forward lines but he looks top of the pile. The quality isn't there and we need a top line.

Told you that about Jakobs three weeks ago. 🙄 And Malmquist better start showing something too or he’ll be the second one out the door, closely followed by Loiseau.
