Can we please give over with the Dan Green bashing. It's so tiring and boring to read. Especially when pretty much nobody on this forum is going to have the slightest idea about what he does day in day out. I don't know either, and frankly I don't particularly care. But there is no need to constantly bash him. Nepotism is alive and well and employed by the panthers...

I don't think we will have that problem. Hopefully not. Cardiff only lost a few over their stint at the top so far so its our first year trying this approach, I don't think we will get any.

Now that the squad has been completed I thought I’d start some discussion about the team and find out which players we think will impress. So, which ONE player are you most excited to see this season? For me, I’m looking forward to to seeing Quist play. He’s coming off a career season in Denmark where he was the league’s 3rd top scorer, he’s got some great size at 6’5” and he’s reportedly got some good wheels, combining the two I think our league could really suit him. We tend to see a lot plays worked in the corners and down low, I think his size and reach could be a big advantage in these situations. So, what are other people’s thoughts? personally im more excited to see Jakobs than Quist.

This is Aaron Foxs' take on the new season. "Fox’s task since being announced is a simple one and that is to catch Cardiff Devils and champions Belfast Giants after a disappointing campaign that saw Steelers finish in an unfamiliar seventh place." In other words Panthers don't feature as a threat. It also shows that we have slipped as a club.

Who in the panthers fanbase wouldn't swap our roster with either Cardiff, Belfast or even god forbid Sheffield's before a puck is even dropped in anger this season? I guess we will know more about how the season is likely to go once all the warm up games are played but this weekend in particular wouldn't be surprised to see panthers get tonked home and away...

Fox may have said it but are they his words? They sound like the words of a man who never gives us a smidge of credit and tries to take a dig at us at any given opportunity

All the teams goals this season is to catch Cardiff and Belfast. They finished 22 points ahead of everyone last season. Manchester United's task is to catch Manchester City and Liverpool: Does that mean they don't see Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs as a threat: no. It just means there's a recognition that the top 2 teams last season were miles ahead and that's the standard. God help us if we win a game this season because most will say its because the other team were bad reading on here.

First piority should be to catch whoever is cutrently wearing the crown, then worry about everyone else. Its like if Man United said, "Our goal is to close the gap with City and Liverpool." They're not going to say they need to close the gap with Spurs or Chelsea are they. Doesnt mean they dont matter.

Chernomaz left some time in January I believe. We should have had Fox In my opinion. He said he signed in Sheffield in February.

This is propaganda, nothing more... intended to provoke the very reaction that you have made. Congratulations - they have pulled the strings and you have danced as they wanted. The plain and simple truth - which none of those in any camp that have already made up their own minds will admit - is that EVERY team is a threat. Any team can beat any other team on any given night. And whilst there are some teams with no realistic chance of winning any title, they still have the power to deny that to others... a 'surprise' win here, a point or two taken there... that is at least as much of a threat to any team's title ambitions as a club that is touted as being a 'contender'.

" they have pulled the strings and you have danced as they wanted." I wouldn't say that. We haven't challenged for some time and that is where we are at. Of course I am a bit more optimistic this season, as I do think that teams will not get any walkovers. I wouldn't say either that every team is a threat. Realistically its difficult to see beyand Cardiff, Belfast, Sheffield and Panthers. That is how it is and where we have been for too long is not good enough. Repeating - I hope Tim has it right and will be right in the mix this season.

Why would/could he do a better job than Wallace they are both starting from the same level of experience . The players brought in is down to the size of budget not scouting knowledge

The players brought in is down to the size of budget not scouting knowledge he has coached in the EBEL whereas Wallace has coached MKL. Look at the type of players he has been able to bring in compared to us. Obviously this is all on paper but they look a league ahead of us roster wise. Just now time to see if he can coach them.

Doing a fine job as well apparently.
Doesn’t sound the most taxing of jobs - is it a full time position?

Like I say he brought in these type of players as his budget allowed it but like I've said before out of all his new players only 1 is near their prime !

What coaching credentials does he have? Why would/could he do a better job than Wallace they are both starting from the same level of experience . The players brought in is down to the size of budget not scouting knowledge he has coached in the EBEL whereas Wallace has coached MKL. And Rich Chernomaz had coached DEL & DEL2 before he came here... remind me again how that went? Just as with players, what's on the CV frequently doesn't seem to match with reality when hitting these shores. Again... we thought that for us last year. Oops. Spot on. Personally - based on what we know of the two men - I don't see why we should want Fox over Wallace. Fox may have the more impressive CV... Wallace already has experience of this league and has already proven that he can raise a team up higher than was expected. It's entirely possible that Fox could turn out to be a better coach than Wallace... or he could turn out to be a lame duck. We'll know by the end of the season, but hindsight is very little use.
