Thanks for details.....I'd assume even if not playing 'on ice', Malmquist was dressed and thus on game sheet as a dressed player to be able to skate around pre game?
So got all goals/assists and zero for pen count...Who was second minder, assume Whistle then on bench with Malmquist. Carr in goal 60mins (not having left the ice)...SOG??
EDIT: SCORESHEET shows Whistle as dressed but not Malmquist (though he skated pre game) so Malmquist is an official scratch now. SOG was 20 (18 saves) for Carr.

Nice to see the Brit teams still winning against European opposition. Played teams from Denmark, Germany and Hungary and all won. I wasn’t at the game today but good to hear the team played well. Looking forward to next week.

You can just bet they will put whistle in against Sheffield. No issue with this. I hope he is our goalie for the challenge cup campaign. It’ll keep him in action throughout the early parts of the season

I know that I saw Hazeldine get what looked very much like an elbow to the face (just in front of the away bench) but didn't realise that it had been potentially serious... thankfully it turned out not to be worst case:- Hazeldine

A very different game tonight and I feel we dealt with an improved blaze team well.
The first period we really struggled with Blazes forecheck and physicality. We had too many neutral zone turnovers and very little creative output.
The second period we ground it out and forged 3 very good goals to put the game to bed and a great goal to round off an impressive performance from Herr.
Carr was consistent again, unsighted for the 2nd and the first was a comedy of errors but again only 2 conceded. If we keep it down to 2 per night we’ll be in with a shout.
Fick was impressive again, solid if not spectacular, keeps it simple, will be a great asset for us this season on current form.
Lepine was replicating last seasons form, stepping up for hits Thats aren’t there and getting burned on the outside to often. I believe the Lepine/tetlow pairing is a vulnerable one, for Tetlows development I would prefer to see him paired with Matheson.
Jakobs is the only “quiet” forward so far, he hasn’t played badly but he hasn’t really been in the games. I expect due to the balance of our team various players will have this sort of form but on the effort levels the team have put in so far this slack can easily be covered.
I feel we still seem a bit lightweight (not fighting wise just in general) so the away game in Coventry is very interesting in terms of how we cope with what I expect will be an intense physical game.

Looking forward to next week. I reckon all these foreign leagues are well over rated. So far this year the EIHL teams have played Denmark,Germany,Hungary,Slovakia and Swedish teams and the results are EIHL 10 v Europe 0. Some going that. 👍

Feel like playing Blaze in the Skydome this season is going to be hellish. Biggest and toughest roster they've had for a while and they have some decent players too, they aren't going to be walkovers at all and I can see Broll making Coventry and even more horrendous place to go.

NOT going to get a scoresheet for the last challenge game away versus Coventry. So this is the only one where I need your full support please from anyone going or who gets the facts.
From the total squad please let me know who does not dress. Which netminders ice and for how long, letting in how many goals. SOG ?? Scorers and assists and penalties.

My first game tonight seeing them play (I’m not crazy, I have a free ticket)
I was going to completely avoid pre season this year, mainly because I was on holiday, but the way people have described effort levels has changed my mind.
Looking forward to some hockey now I have to admit

There is a webcast for tonight’s game. £12 though! I begrudge spending a tenner for a league game, I'm not paying £12 for preseason!

Malmquist playing. Rheault, Hazeldine and DeSantis sit out. Whistle starts Carr backup.

Can’t find who got the assist. I thought it was Quist but can’t confirm.

Second goal for us was apparently Quist from Golovkovs and Loiseau.
2-1 up after 2.

How did Whistle look in nets?

How did Whistle look in nets? Whistle looked pretty good, he’d probably be frustrated with the goal he let in, it snuck underneath his pad, but he made some highlight reel saves and he didn’t seem to give away any glaring rebounds. I’m glad we’ve got him this season.

A decent performance tonight, lines seemed to be:
Quist - Betteridge - Bulmer Herr - Perlini - Kelsall Golovkovs - Loiseau - Jakobs Malmquist - Lacho
Mixed up at times to try and play 4 lines.
The game was scrappy at times but I don’t think the ice helped that, commentators were saying that Planet Ice have had to cancel numerous events in the days before this, as well as today, to try and keep it from turning into a swamp. Pretty poor considering it’s the first game of the season.
Malmquist showed some good flashes of skill in his first game, Herr, Bulmer and Quist looked to be our most dangerous forwards tonight. I was also very impressed with Matheson, Deutsch and Connelly, so composed on the puck in their own zone and they are going to be key pieces to our offence this season, especially Matheson.
It’s good to get a win away form home, in one of the toughest rinks to visit, the team didn’t stop working all night. I’m feeling quite optimistic about next weekend.

I know it's only pre season, but I'm feeling optimistic.
The only defeat was expected and the team seems to be playing well.
If they can continue to play how they have been, then I think we are in for an interesting season

First game review: solidly good with a lot of potential.
Whistle: barely had to make a save all night. Defence kept the shots away from him. The goal was a 3 on 1, not going to criticise him.
Defence: WOW. No Fick or Desantis but the movement on the puck was superb. Played passes to tape, kept the puck well and limited the chances the blaze had. Matheson looks a very shrewd signing and ran that d. Connelly skated so well and Lepine and Tetlow were solid. The transition play was excellent. all superlatives from me Forwards:skated well, helped out the D. Should and could have won by more if not for the pipes but Bulmer really impressed me.
Overall, we never looked troubled after going 2-1 up and even happier that our heads didn’t drop after going a goal down
